Bill Moore:
Thanks, Gabe, for the info about Vyrso. Frankly, this is a deal-breaker for me. I was seriously considering a Fire HD 8.9", but having a pixelated Vyrso app isn't going to work. I realize this is Amazon's decision and not that of Logos.

If I read the comment correctly, he didn't say a "pixelated Vyrso app". He said a pixelated Vyrso icon on the home screen. To me that just sounded like the start icon would be ugly. It didn't say anything negative about the appearance of the app when it's running.

Good catch, Donnie, and thanks. I think you're right. That does help some. I have not canceled my Fire HD 8.9" 32GB pre-order and may yet end up getting it. And perhaps Logos can get the Vyrso icon to look better on the Fire HD screen, but as long as the book fonts look good, that's what matters.

I am considering getting a Kindle Fire HD and am wondering about an update to this thread.

Does Logos work on KFHD?

I can download some of my books onto the Fire and read them offline?

Does Logos work offline or do I need to be connected?

Can you give me some idea of how much storage is contained within, say, 16G?

Thanks for any input.

As far as I can tell Logos works fine on KFHD. 16G is plenty of room. I have a few commentaries, bibles, etc. download so I can use them when they are offline. Hope this helps!

John, I purchased kindle fire hd last week only because it works with Logos.  I have been very pleased thus far.  The only problem I've experienced is that none of my reading plans properly sinc on kindle.

I just recieved a kindle fire in the mail. I've had it about 4 hours now and the app works great, except my notes and highlights haven't appeared yet. Does any one know about this? Do they just take a while to appear or do highlights and notes not work on the fire? I see there is an option for notes in the options menu. I have it turned on. Has anyone had a similar experience?

As at  20 Dec 2012 Amazon allows the Logos Bible Software app only into the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain. Those Logos users who want the Kindle Fire HD (8.9" 16GB WiFi) as a mobile platform must be aware of this because as the device is from Amazon, access to the Google Play Store is also denied. The app is only available from these two sources. Therefore only those residents of the listed countries have easy access to the Logos app (and the other apps on the Amazon store). At first sight this is a tremendous disincentive to purchase the Fire HD which in my view is one of the best ereaders now available (in terms of size, weight, price and the excellent readability). The good news is that if you are software-savvy or have a friend who is, this can be circumvented by making the Amazon store believe that you are purchasing in the US. All the other attributes of the tablet are retained - use as normal.

You can also get Logos Bible App from 1mobile.com. So if you set your Kindle to allow installation from other sources, you should be able to get this.

Also, I believe, you could get the beta version straight from Logos (there's a forum with the link).

Peace! David.

Hey David is it possible to get the google play books app on the kindle fire in this way? I tried to download it from this site but it just tells me that the download failed.

Ok, I just was able to download the app to my kindle fire (I was able to within the mobile 1 app), but when I try to open it it just gives me a blank screen with the google play book logo on the upper right corner. Has anyone successfully been able to put the google play books app on their kindle fire?

Wow..that's a bit odd. Not sure why you would need the google play book app.

However, you can get that app on the Kindle Fire HD. I had it for a while...not sure if I still do...so if they haven't changed anything it should still be possible. Here is a forum on how to get the google apps (other than Google Play) onto the Kindle Fire HD _without_ rooting the device.

Before you go through the trouble, I would go to http://community.logos.com/forums/t/64178.aspx and download it from one of the links. They have both the stable and beta versions linked there.

Good luck!

I was just scanning this forum regarding this very same issue.  Any luck with getting this fixed?

Larry, did you try downloading Logos Bible App from the forum link above? (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/64178.aspx) I just downloaded Vyrso from that link since Amazon tells me Vyrso isn't compatible with my device (Logos...did you know that?).

Vyrso works just fine on the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD devices. Amazon simply chooses to not allow the Vyrso app to be installed via their Kindle Fire store app.

There are step by step instructions on how Kindle Fire users can install the Vyrso app. Unfortunately it means the app upgrade process won't be as seamless (you'll need to manually download the updated app and install it when prompted that a new version is available) and the app icon it puts in the Carousel is extremely pixelated. We've asked Amazon if there is anything we can do to the app to get it authorized (i.e. compatible) for Kindle Fire devices but have not been given any steps that can be taken.

The new Verbum app has also not yet been approved for Kindle Fire devices. I'm still hoping it's just taking a while and it will happen eventually since Verbum is more like the other Kindle Fire approved apps (Bible, Biblia, Faithlife) in the resources and features that it offers compared to Vyrso.

I updated the Vyrso stable download page with specific directions for Kindle Fire device users.

From my perspective the Vyrso app is completely compatible with Kindle Fire devices. Amazon simply chooses not to allow Kindle Fire device users to install it. You can install and use the Vyrso app on your Kindle Fire device by following the side-loading instructions posted here: http://vyrso.com/kindle-instructions.

Two pitfalls to side-loading are that the upgrade process is a little more cumbersome and the App icon it puts in the Carousel is pixelated.

If Amazon gets back to me regarding necessary app modifications needed so the Vyrso (and Verbum) apps will be deemed "compatible" with Kindle Fire devices we will do our best to make that happen.

Well I am in the market for a tablet and Amazon playing games like this has just lost them a sale - not that they are bothered!!

October 2018.   The Vyrso app is version 6.5.6.    Still will not load to Fire from the Amazon website.

October 2018.   Amazon is blocking this link.

Go to https://community.logos.com/forums/t/64178.aspx  (on your Fire device)

While the page references build 2.2.10,  the link given actually goes to the current stable version.

Fire users may need to go into settings and change to allow installs from unrecognized sites.   You will get some security warnings.  Do you trust Faithlife?

(If you later get warnings about other apps you install, think 2 or three times before you go ahead.   Mistyping a link can get you into some nasty stuff)

The blocked link I referenced is one offered by Gabe Martin  in 2012
