I have a very similar problem.
I purchased a MacBook Pro Retina laptop, which comes with Mountain Lion preinstalled. Every time I Quit Logos 4, it appears to close naturally, but the process continues to run. If I try to Force Quit, my Finder then hangs.
As of now, if I know I need to quit logos, I wait until I need to restart my laptop.
Steve
Hi Steve,
Can you log the session and attach the log files here? Be sure to attach the logs to the thread prior to re-starting Logos 4. Here is a link to instructions: www.logos.com/support/mac/L4/Logging
I also have this problem. But the windows don't always close. They just sit there and I have to force quit Logos. Happens quite often actually. I have Lion (10.7.5), though.
I also have this problem.
Caleb - please follow Tommy's link and submit your logs.
Okay. So, I know I have turned on logging 4 times now, since everyone tells me to do so every time I report a bug. When I turn it on, does it turn itself off automatically at any time?
So here are my logs from Logos 4 freezing when closing it.

It depends upon the method you choose. If you just use the command key, log in screen method, it just enables logging for a single session. Logging being continuously enabled can slow down the system, especially if you have an older computer with less ram. For this reason, logging isn't permanently enabled by default.
I hate to tell you this, but it looks to me like logging wasn't enabled properly. Did you try to enable logging while Logos was currently running?
It's possible I am mistaken… a techie would have to give you more directions.
Out of curiosity… what happens if you close all your panes and then close Logos? Does it still hang? I did notice quite a few errors related to faithlife. Do you have community notes?
Yeah actually I did. I re-enabled it after I had closed it, though. Which means I need to close Logos again to see if it will freeze again. It is not very consistent. Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it completely closes.
You might want to "permanently" enable logging… at least until you get some good logs. You can always turn it off later. It's not really "permanent." [:)]

I do have community notes. And since I have not tried closing Logos 4 after closing all of the panes, I decided I'd close all the panes and close Logos about 10 times to see if it would freeze on closing. Results: it close 10/10 times without freezing. Then I decided to reopen all the same panels (since I had saved the layout) and close it 10 times. Results: Logos 4 Mac closed 10/10 times without freezing. So my thought is that maybe it freezes because I go too long without closing Logos (sometimes more than a week) and maybe even because I rarely shut down my compter (once a month...sometimes). I am thinking that since Logos quite immediately...it did not take 30 seconds or so like it usually does. I am also wondering if saving the layout and closing all the panes and then re-opening them did anything to help Logos 4 to close. All conjecture at this point (on my part anyway). Any thoughts?
Oh so whenever I open terminal and copy and paste that code, I am turning it on "always" every time....then I guess I don't have to do that every time, huh?
That article showed how to double check to make sure Logging was enabled, I checked and it definitely is.
So, it froze again. this time when trying to shut down to install the new update for Logos4 Mac. These should be the right logs.

Caleb - I took a look at the logs, but they are beyond my ability to decipher. I'll pass the buck to someone with more tech credentials.

When you attempted to shut down Logos 4, did you have a resource open that was using the (Hebrew) Ezra SIL font?

Well my default Hebrew font is set to SBL Hebrew. Does that help?
Not sure. The last entry in the log says there are duplicate versions of the Ezra SIL font. I don't know why this would be causing the app to hang, but I suppose it is worth looking at. Can you navigate to (from the Hard Drive) /Library/Fonts and see if you have more than one SILEOT.ttf?
So I have under fonts the SILEOT.ttf and a SILEOTSR.ttf. So it does not APPEAR to be duplicate (to me anyway). The freeze on close seems to occur most often after using it a lot, and as a result it uses a lot of RAM. But, even when I stop using it, it keeps using RAM. It does not release any RAM. When I close Logos when it is idle (but holding onto the RAM) it crashes. However, if I have not used it a lot, and it is using a lower percentage of RAM (such as 4 or 5% of my RAM) it seems to close without any problem. When it is using 7%+ of my RAM is typically when it seems to freeze on close. Logos 4 also freezes more when more often than not when it is using more RAM (such as when scrolling, when highlighting a word in any of my books, copying takes longer and sometimes causes Logos to freeze, doubling clicking a word and Logos freezes more often before it opens the book, or opens the lexicon to the right spot, etc.)

Suggest using Font Book application to check for duplication by right click on font, then click "validate font"
Keep Smiling [:)]
I just did that and I definitely do NOT have that font duplicated. I did not think to use Font Book. Thanks for that suggestion.

Approximately how much (in terms of MBs) is it using when these behaviors occur? If you can find out it will be easier to troubleshoot the problems if you call us and talk to tech. I can write up a case if you have time tomorrow or after Christmas next week.
Okay. So Logos 4 crashed again, and it was using a higher percentage of my RAM (again) and while idle (as usual).

So, Logos 4 froze again while trying to close it (again) and while it was using a higher percentage of RAM (again, 8% of 8GB...it goes up to that from 4%, and that is when Logos freezes more often, and almost always freezes when trying to close it).

At this point I think it might be best to call us at your convenience. Troubleshooting this will be very difficult in the thread. We will be open Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas. 800-875-6467.
Okay so this is frustrating. I tried posting that post 5 times and all I ever got was an error from the website, claiming that the site was not available. But it still posted it all 5 times....and now I can't delete them. I feel that makes the forum cluttered, and I'd like the extra, unnecessary duplicate posts deleted. Is that possible from the Logos website side of things?
Oh, FYI, Logos is right now using 12% of my 8GB RAM (according to Activity monitor it is using 985.4 MB of RAM). If I try to close Logos, I am certain it will freeze again.
Right again. Here are the logs.
Oh and just so you know, for the last 4 days, every time I have tried to post comments to this thread, I get an error message. The first time I got it, I kept hitting refresh and even reposted it. But, the post showed up 4 times (even though I got the below error message. Here is what the error message looks like.
