Logos 4 & OneNote

For those that have found that they aren't particularly fond of the note files in Logos 4, here's a link to a video I just recorded showing how you can use OneNote & Logos 4 together w/o losing any workspace. Consider this an easy way to replace note files.
Of course, there are a few drawbacks, but I've been experimenting with this over the weekend and have come to really enjoy it, especially taking advantage of Windows 7's taskbar features. I really think this will be useful once smart tagging is supported in Logos 4.
Anyway, here's the link... would love your feedback :-)

Nice....
I'm a OneNote and Windows 7 user too...thanks for the video!
I was wondering how to get those documents to be availible from the task bar...and now I do....
Much appreciated.

Thanks for sharing this.
Pro: formatting and the ability to type notes as a running commentary. I find that creating individual notes for each verse can be distracting from a devotional standpoint.
Con: No icon in L4 to show you that you have a note on that verse (unless an empty note is added for that sole purpose to an empty note file).
Question: Smart tags did not work for me in Onenote with Logos 3. The question is, will they work with Onenote and Logos 4? Without smart tags, we lose the ability to click on cross-references.
Blessings,
Francis

Smarttags are note available in OneNote and I have the Office 2010 Beta...Doesn't look like they will be there in the future either.

If you do put the "empty" note there, you can add a hyperlink to the OneNote page so that they are essentially linked.

Thanks for sharing this with all the Logos users. I really appreciate it as I have always used a word processor of sorts to take notes. I have Windows 7 and OneNote. This will work great for me. The video was great!

If you don't see the push pin (keep on top button), this is the easiest way to add it...
1) at the very top, right-click on the quick access toolbar (should be right next to the icon @ the top of the window)
2) select "customize quick access toolbar"
3) have it show "all commands"
4) scroll down & choose the "keep on top" iconNow, this is for the Office 2010 beta, and I'd have to reinstall Office 2007 (or check on my wife's desktop) to make sure the steps are the same, but they should be.

I have 2007 on my laptop and since there is no ribbon in onenote 2007 the icon would have to go on the regular toobar. You can still do it, but not as easy and won't look like the video.

Sorry about that. It was an inside joke :-) The push pin is also available in the 2010 beta on the view tab.

just installed W7 last night on a "new" laptop and am downloading L4 . . . . . . . . . . u know how that goes. . . anyway, am looking forward to using your idea. a couple questions:
1. how do you get to use the 2010 beta? AND if it is open to others, are there a lot of bugs--would a low tech guy do okay with it?
2. how do you link to one note within your L4 notes?
3. Where could I go to get some brief intro tutorials on w7. still a little unfamiliar in set up to me.
thanks!

you can't yet. You also cannot link to guides and biblical people/places/things yet. But they will eventually have this functionalility.

I would rather see something similar to NoteScraps in v. 4 than the present note system.

Thanks LaRosa. For those of us who do not have one note, freebie outliner/organizer keyNote 1.6.5 has many of the same features you demonstrated. It does not have a 'stay on top' mode that I could find but it does have a clipboard capture mode that automatically pastes copied text into an outline node (perhaps one note has that too). I find I can resize my Logos window to have keyNote to the side or it is not much trouble to toggle from program to program. Or it is not much hassle to alt-space > r (restore) to temporarily resize Logos while typing a note in keyNote. Then alt-space > x (maximize) Another option is freeware/sharware TreePad outliner/organizer -- it has better searching but you can only have one tree, while keynote allows for multiple trees inside multiple tabs.

Has anyone tried version 1.6.9, the last one the original developer did? Or, Keynote-nf, the version now being developed by another developer? The reason for the question is to learn if it is best to stick with 1.6.5.
Thanks,
