Silver and Gold (Base Package)

OK. I think by Christmas I will scrape up enough cookie dough to purchase the SILVER upgrade package. The question I have for y'all: What gems do you see in the resources which would be added to the GOLD package. I may ask my family for contributions to my Logos fund to "go for the gold." I have created a list below which represents the resources which would be new to me in the GOLD package, but which are not included in the SILVER.

A great post by another forum member introduced me to one of the resources. Are there any "must have's" for you in the list below? How do you use the resource, or of what benefit is it?

I am considering the same question and came up with a similar list!

A couple on your list which I do have:

Introduction to the New Testament (deSilva) - I have been working through this on a reading plan for a few months and am finding it excellent. There is a lengthy and interesting introduction then a section on each book in the Bible. He provides an introduction to the book, an overview of its message, an approach to interpretation (a different one for each book but often generally applicable) and some application for ministry formation. Very helpful
Christian Origins and the Question of God (Wright) - some of the first "heavy" academic works I read. Initially in paper but then picked them up in Logos. They are fascinating, insightful and very detailed. You may well disagree with some of what he says but he makes you think. Some very valuable insights and perspectives and some great context ot think about New Testament studies.

I would recommend them both - and interested to see what others say about the rest of the things on your list

I highly recommend the Exposition of Prayer. I've been wanting it ever since Logos produced it. Used it this weekend and loved it. 2900 pages ($159.95), 50 yrs of study on prayer. Organized book by book. Examines every prayer in the Bible.

I haven't used the Exegetical Summaries very much yet, but they are a rich resource.

NT Wright's set is fabulous.

Those add up to a lot of dollars if purchased outside the base pkgs.

Thanks for pointing that out! The name of the series is so generic, I didn't even look it up. I think I had a volume on pre-pub that I had to cancel before it shipped. The upgrade price (for me) is worth it just for that series ($499)! Hopefully enough family members ask my wife what I want for Christmas! [:D]
