Awesomium Error

Using L5 on Windows 8
When I try to view community notes I get the following error: "Awesomium v1.6.4 has stopped working"
Any ideas?

It should create an error log. If you upload the error log we may be able to help.

btw for anyone who thought about it, I just checked my periodic table of elements (online) and Awesomium is not one of them...
...back to you Alan!

I wonder if it's not just a programers way of flagging errors. I worked on a product one time that had someone use the phrase "Oh Hell" as a catchall. When an error would pop up - it would display the aforementioned error. The only problem? This was not an internal product for the company, we sold it to a market. The programer never cleaned up the flagging phrase and we eventually started getting calls with clients saying "Oh Hell!" Should have made opportunity to evangelize...

I just assumed that Awesomium was the package just above Portfolio. [:P]

Awesomium is a library that allows you to build the UI for your native code in HTML/JS/CSS, or at least that's how it's billed.
However, for all practical purposes, it's just an embeddable version of the web engine used by Google Chrome (or rather, the open-source equivalent: Chromium). Logos uses it to display HTML content as, for example, on the Home page and other tools. I don't think they use it for displaying all text, but wouldn't be surprised that they use it in Notes. As far as I can tell, they do not use it for the UI in general.

It's currently only used for a) displaying the contents of the Community Notes panel (not regular notes), and b) visualisations for Bible Sense Lexicon (in 5.0a Beta).

Awesomium is to Logos as Midichlorians are to Jedi

What version of Windows 8 are you using?

Windows 8 Pro

Thank you.
Also: does this crash the app, or just prevent the Bible Sense Lexicon and Community Notes from working?

The latter.

At this point a crash dump could help us narrow down what is going on. Information for collecting a crash dump can be found at: http://wiki.logos.com/ProcDump
Note that the steps in the link above will need to be modified slightly, substituting Logos 5 install paths and exe names as necessary (i.e. any place that says Logos4.exe would be Logos.exe).

It doesn't create a dmp file because the program does not crash (or I'm not doing it correctly - the command prompt window is open), it only displays the following error windows:

That's because it's a yet-to-be-discovered element. Logos is so far ahead of science that they're already using it.

Not sure if copyrights allow me to post the dll here, so here's what I did
I installed the SDK from http://awesomium.com/downloads/awesomium_v1.6.6_sdk_win.exe
I then copied the awesonium.dll from the SDK installed directory (can't remember the exact location as I've already uninstalled it, but it was under "c:\program files") into the "C:\Users\{YOUR USER NAME}\AppData\Local\Logos4\System" directory (just make sure you back up the old awesonium.dll just in case there's a problem)
Let me know if it works for you.
Since I don't need the SDK I uninstalled the program
