How to create BIble hyperlinks on Mac
How do I make a hyperlink to a Bible verse on a Mac within a Note? I've always done this on Windows before moving to a Mac and it was automatic. Now it is manual.
What I did try doing was this:
- Enter the Bible verse reference
- Select that reference
- Click the link button at the end of the notes tool bar
- Enter logosref:Bible.Ps1.1 as I saw on the Wiki.
- The text was highlighted in blue after this. If I pointed to it it turned to a pointing hand. But hovering over it showed no Bible text and clicking it did nothing.
I then tried change the link reference to one like logosres:esv;ref=BibleESV.Ps1.1, having Logos produce the URL itself. But that faired no better.
What might I be missing?
I wish automatic hyperlinks worked in Logos 5 for Mac like they do on Windows.
Thanks,
Chris

This is a known limitation in the current notes editor on Mac. We are actively working on updating the notes editor (on both platforms) and hope to release this improved version soon (but I don't have a specific date or version when it will be ready).

Thanks for the reply. I look forward to seeing this in a future version soon.
In the mean time, can you point the way to properly creating hyperlinks manually on the Mac? Or are you saying that even now this won't work very well until the future enhancement?

Instead of Ps 1.1, manually copied URL link logosres:na28;ref=BibleNA27.Php4.4-8 from NA28. Used Logos 5.0a Beta 2 on OS X 10.8.2
Hovering mouse over blue text has pop-up appear after a couple seconds.

Done!(KS4J's link, apart from taking considerably more time to create, will take you that exact Bible. This link will take you to your highest prioritized Bible.)

Thanks. It turns out the problem was not the creating of the link. The problem is that when I hover over Bible links in notes, they pop-up with the correponding text doesn't always show up. In fact, most of the time, it doesn't. I opened notes that I had created on the Windows version but the pop-up didn't show up most of the time if it was a Bible reference. If it was a reference to some book/resource, that pop-up showed up consistently.
If I Cmd-Click on the link, even though the Bible text doesn't show up in a popup, the link does open the Bible to the correct reference. But the popup basically doesn't show up. Once in a while I saw it popup but I cannot understand what situation caused it. Bible references in resources show up just fine. I have a note and a resource opened up side by side. If I hover over the Bible reference in the note, I get no popup though the mouse cursor does change to a pointing hand. I move over to the resource/book and do the same thing. The popup shows up immediately. Cmd-Click either, it doesn't go to the link, though.
Very strange, confusing, and a bit frustrating (to be frank). Why would the pop-ups not show up consistently.
I wish I could show a screenshot of it, but I'm not sure how to take a screenshot of a popup not displaying in note links.

Noticed pop-up could lag a bit after moving mouse pointer to a blue link.

Thanks, but for me if there is a lag, then it is way too long ;-). I can leave the mouse pointer there for a minute or more and the popup still won't show up. I could handle a lag.
I even tried restarting Logos but it did not help. I can leave the pointer there for a long time and never see a popup. I try moving the pointer around to different points on the link to see if that helps, but nothing.
Not sure why you see it and I don't. I am also running OS X 10.8.2. This is a Retina Macbook Pro. Don't know if that plays a role. I've reported some other display issues (these with screen shots) that other Mac users on the same OS version don't see.

We have had another user report this issue on a 10.8 Retina Macbook Pro. I will add a link to this thread to that case.

For future reference, in instances like this sometimes a video works well. In this particular case, I don't think we need one since we have seen the issue before.

This is the same issue reported here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/53215.aspx
I have responded in that thread.
