IMHO, this is a great summary that explains everything with great clarity. I can't imagine how much this would have reduced customer pool turmoil and saved staff time had it been available on November 1stSmile.

Well done!

This is exactly* what should Logos should have had in place on November 1 when L5 was introduced. Logos marketing always seems to be playing catch-up in communication. Logos should test market its introduction announcements before releasing them. I think any Logos users could have identified the problem areas. Why make an existing customer base unhappy?

*Even this explanation requires extensive footnotes and disclaimers which are often overlooked.

I'm still a little confused. I'm currently a Logos 4 Scholar's Platinum owner. How do I upgrade to L5, just keep all of my existing books and have all of the new features of L5?

Minimal Crossgrade $159.95 includes all features, datasets and the resources to utilize them.

If you want the new features, you have two choices: purchase a new base package (which will just add to your previous collection… and you will only be charged for the NEW resources… you don't pay for books you already own) OR you can purchase the minimal cross grade. The price for either of these choices will be dependent upon the resources and data sets you currently own.

If you decide you don't want the new features, you can wait until early next year when the L5 engine will be made available to you free.

Hi David. The simplest thing would be to choose the Minimum Crossgrade option. At most, it will be $159.95, if I recall correctly. It may be a little cheaper, depending upon the resources you already own. That will get you all the new datasets and features of L5 and you retain all your resources. You always retain all your resources, by the way.

However, you may want to check out the L5 Silver package upgrade. When I was looking at upgrading from L4 Platinum, I could have upgraded to L5 Silver for less than $30 over the Minimum Crossgrade option. After that, I could have then upgraded to the Minimum Crossgrade for something like $7 in order to add the one dataset which was missing in L5 Silver.

I would have kept all my L4 Platinum resources and added some outstanding new resources for very little money. In the end, I upgraded to L5 Platinum, but I came really close to taking the -->Silver --> Minimum Crossgrade option I laid out above.

Best to you.

Peace, David!      *smile*              You're getting good advice from the others....              Just sending you this note to give you a "heads up" on the new nomenclature for the base packages.                  I think Logos Personnel regret it very much and wished they had done it differently.  They used some of the same names for the new base packages  that they used for the old base packages; and one has to be extremely careful that one is comparing apples with apples and oranges with oranges.
