Hi,

I cannot get L5 to run after installing the latest update.  I've tried using a blank layout & selecting "work offline"

I'm completely unsure where to go from here.

I've attached the log files I have.

5127.qwerty-L5-logs.zip

I thought about re-installing L5 but can't find a download anywhere and am not sure about trying the uninstall thing based on what i've read.

Thanks for any help...

haven't got a mac yet - awaiting my new 27" imac!

If you do want your install, and I am not saying either way if you should reinstall or not, simply got to account orders and select your order. It will then have a download up the top. You should have link in confirmation email as well. There may be other ways too.

Yay! Are you getting the fusion drive? If so, you must report back and let us know how it works with Logos.

    I am hoping to get a 27" early 2013.

    Hi Andy

Actually if I remember rightly it's partly your fault I am getting a mac!

Maybe this time last year we had some awful people on the forums to divert attention you posted some glorious pictures we were drooling over.

No fusion just 3tb + 2gb graphics card and 16gb which I will upgrade to 32 later! Hope between xmas and new year

[:D] I switched a little over a year ago and, even with some of the then idiosyncrasies of L4Mac, I haven't looked back. I am currently working with a desktop PC, but intend to replace it with an iMac at some stage.

I am sure you will be delighted with it. A fantastic Christmas present [:D]

Report back and let us know how it is working for you.

    Blessings [:D]

The logs are all old, none of them reflect your current problem.

The most convenient way to enable logging is to use the Applescript LogosLogging by KS4J. (Restart of Logos needed after enabling)

Then use Logos Log Scribe to create an archive of the logs on your desktop.

Hello - sorry you are having difficulties after last update.

Looking at your log files your Logos installation does not look happy. It is missing a class of resource files

"No .lsr files were found. Make sure the LRSystem directory is present and contains .lsr files'

and looks like it simply will not start. Was there any problem downloading the update? Did your Logos crash during it?

At this point it looks like you will have to consider what is the minimum clean up necessary to get it functioning — will it require a complete clean install (of data + indexing)  or not.

I would be contacting Logos support (if you are in the US) and requesting their specialist help.

    Hi Jack

I'm confused, in his log files it shows last run was yesterday the sixth (ma birthday!) and he is running latest Logos version

    Happy Birthday (a little late..)

    Thanks for the replies...

I didn't turn logging on until I couldn't get Logos to start so I'm thinking that may be why my logs are not that helpful.

I'll be checking with Logos today.  I'll post back here if anything comes of it that may be useful to the community!

Thanks so much for your help.

Wonder about clicking on order link => https://www.logos.com/user/orders to download Logos 5 since the application needs to be replaced.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

Tried it. and then I looked in my applications folder.  and found this:  image

I tried clicking on the 1st one (61501.0.220) and got a message that I needed to upgrade my logos.

Then I tried to  open #7 and it opened.

Now, how do I clean all this up & make sure my installation is good again?

Gosh - you've got two versions in front of us, Logos 7! [:D]

First - follow KSFJ's suggestion and go to https://www.logos.com/user/orders to make sure you can see your order for Logos 5. When you click on order number (not description) you can download new copy of Logos 5 installation DMG file.

Second - drag all those Logos applications you have in Applications to the trash, empty the trash

Third - reinstall Logos from downloaded install file. It should be called Logos Bible Software 5.

Let us know how you go.

The *.LSR files in the LRSystem folder are actually files & folders inside the Logos 5 application

Mac applications look like a file (one icon) but they are special application folders with many files and folders in them. Your copies were messed up and appeared to be missing the whole LRSystem folder. Confirming you need to trash all the old ones first and then do clean install of the app.

Thank you sooo much Patrick, KS4J & Jack too!

I believe that was the fix.

Didn't know I had to delete the old versions first.

It errored the first time it tried to open but then it worked when i clicked reopen.

now it is downloading another update or maybe the same one.  not sure.

hopefully this one won't mess up.

now back to my paper ;)

Happy birthday. Did I not look at all the files? I just emptied the trash, so I cannot double-check without downloading again [:(] Guess my virtual desktop is just too tidy—unlike the physical one [8-|]

Agree with the first two expressions of appreciation, but all Jack did was show that he should quit attempting to read logs [:D]

I believe I saw it in the Logos.log file, I was looking at three sets of log files at the time :) anyway main thing it's resolved, and I learnt some more about app workings as well.
