Preaching the Word Upgrade 3 available for free

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I've just noticed that Preaching the Word Upgrade 3 is available for free. It consists of commentaries on Deuteronomy (Ajith Fernando), Proverbs (Raymond Ortland), 1 and 2 Thessalonians (James Grant), and Revelation (James Hamilton). Worth picking up while it's free.

When I get to the screen it does say free, 100%, but when trying to check out, it says, $89.95. That's not free. There is a glitch somewhere.

My order history shows that I paid $0.00 for it. It does seem strange that it hasn't been promoted as a special offer.

I suspect it's a glitch. I was able to purchase it for $0.00, but I've emailed Phil Gons to ask him what is up. I'm fully expecting to have to return it and pay for it, which is OK. I wouldn't want to take advantage of Logos if it was a simple error. Though of course I'm halfway hoping it was an intentional surprise gift to us all. [:)]

When I added to my cart it was $89. I don't dare try the quick buy button because it might charge me $89! Or maybe that's how you all were able to get it for free...

I think the glitch is, not supposed to be free, but $89.95. Earlier one screen said "free" then the check out screen gave the price, now the link only shows the price of $89.95 with options to either pay all at once, or on payments.

Checked my Pre-Pub orders this morning. This afternoon, 1 shipped and charged, the other (PTW) stated "Ships Today". Later looked at my email and had an email from the "Free Logos Books" feed. I jumped on that one, but did not modify or cancel my Pre-Pub order. I am grateful to Logos for the gift (if it is in fact free), however, I will not complain, gripe, or dispute if it is not. [:)]

You log into your account on the Logos website, then go to the "Notifications" section listed on the drop-down menu under your name. From there you can check or uncheck any of the options you are interested in. You will see one that says "Free Book Of The Month". That's the one that will let you know of the free books (once released).

It sounds like individuals who managed to get it for free before the glitch was fixed are tweeting about that and providing a link to the page which now no longer has it free. This isn't something Logos can fix. The tweets are already out there and Logos has no control over them and can't stop them from being retweeted all over kingdom come. However they could (and perhaps should, depending on how widespread they think this problem is) put a note on the product page apologizing for the pricing error that was showing for a brief while and saying the product is not actually free.

Kenneth, you say "Logos could post there as well" -- indeed, they could tweet a message saying that there was an error and it's been fixed. But that still won't stop the erroneous tweets from going around, and the same people who read the erroneous tweets might not be subscribed to the Logos Twitter feed, so they might not see the correction.

I followed the link in the original post in this thread and it still let me download it for free. Looks like the glitch hasn't been totally fixed.

I'm not seeking to take advantage of Logos' mistake, I want to help them rectify this issue. Logos - please relock this resource at your convenience!

My opinion on this is that Logos should just post a brief explanation on the product page about the bug, and recall any license that was downloaded as a result of the problem. No individual explanation required. If people get bent out of shape over this...tough stuff. The idea that a business can't make a mistake without having to pay for it is stupid. They don't owe customers anything, because the customers don't deserve anything. "The customer is always right" is nonsense--they can be petulant, whiny brats often as not. If a business decides to make good, it is entirely up to them to do so, but in a simple mistake like this, I'll be honest...any customer that that gets snippy and irritable over this is a person I wouldn't want as a customer. Good riddance.

If Logos would have decided to bless me with this, I definitely would have accepted the blessing, thanked them, and not beg them to take it back. I am still a happy Logos user either way. I did have this on pre-pub for $59.99, and when I seen that it was offered for free (mistake or not) with an email, I jumped at that option and placed my free order just the same. I also discovered that it may have been a mistake, so I did not modify my pre-pub order in the event that Logos did decide to charge me. Over the weekend, my CC was charged, so I have 2 invoices of PTW Upgrade (1 with $0.00 and another with $59.99). I will not complain or gripe one way or the other. [:)]

Would have been nice. I have a good number of these commentaries. They are not critical study commentaries, like NIVOT/NT or Word or ICC, but they are a very good expository commentary set. I enjoy the set. But I would not be willing to pay $79 for three expository commentaries.

It's called Upgrade 3, but there are 4 vols. in this upgrade collection.
