Cross-Post - Priority Duplication

My priorities in L4 have, largely speaking, been duplicated, so that the ESV in in at position one and two etc.

I have posted a report with a screen dump here ... http://community.logos.com/forums/p/6775/52677.aspx#52677

Since I only have two Logos machines, one on my work PC and the other running Alpha 6, it was suggested that I might also post here.

Is there any significant synchronisation between L4 and A6? Could this be the cause of the issue? Any suggestions as to how I might prevent the duplication of L4 priorities in the future?

As I mentioned in the L4 forum, the A6 priorities do not look as if they have been synced since the initial Alpha installation, but I could be wrong on that.

Thanks.

    Hi Martin,

there any significant synchronisation between L4 and A6?

Yes, everything you do synchronizes.  The windows and mac versions share the exact same base code, so any work you do or notes you take int he windows version will sync. to the mac version.  The only thing is we cannot use or see all the features yet in the mac until the interface is built.

Could this be the cause of the issue?

Yes, it could be the cause.

Any suggestions as to how I might prevent the duplication of L4 priorities in the future?

The only thing you can do, that I am aware of, is make a report (as you have already done), give as much detail as necessary so that the developers can try to either duplicate or track down the bug.  They will fix it :-)

    Thanks Joe.

    Yes, everything you do synchronizes.

I have given it a little time and waited for A8 and I do not think that my Alpha is syncing everything:

    • None of the tagging done over the last few days is in the Alpha either (almost every resource has had additional tagging)
    • The priority lists differ between PC and Mac. Having removed the duplicates on the PC, they have returned. They did not return immediately. I have been using the PC exclusively for about a week and every thing was fine. I loaded the Alpha, and I presume it synced with Logos (and put the Alpha priorities back on the cloud server), because a few minutes later they were back on the PC as well.
    • Resources hidden via the PC when Alpha was first installed are still hidden days after they were restored on the PC
    • Layouts have not synced for some time either.
    • I am not sure about notes. Are they searched under the Alpha yet? I cannot get known phrases from migh notes to appear via the searching.

I have also bought two of the recent '12 days' offering. This has smoothly appeared on the Mac as well as the PC, but the mac versions have no covers - none of my mac resources have cover images (as reported here) so there is some communication with Logos.com

I have tried the command 'sync now' but it has no obvious effect.

Is there a command that might reset the syncing or rebuild the cover index files?

or perhaps a db file that might be deleted, triggering a rebuild?

Ideally I would like to avoid  another 120 hour+ re-index but now the Alpha is becoming increasingly functional I would like to use it more often, especially if I knew the PC work was either available, or at least not going to be corrupted.

BTW. My apologies if this sounds negative. It is intended to describe symptoms of a problem. I think the mac team are doing an outstanding job. I am willing to stand at the back of a very long queue for these to be fixed in what is still an Alpha, all the time waiting in excitement for next episode!

    Many regards

    Martin.

Some Alpha users have experienced issues that prevent items from properly syncing on the Mac. It's hard for me to diagnose the issue more confidently without your logs. There are instructions for uploading the logs linked in my signature.

The update service and the sync service are two separate components, so issues in one wouldn't necessarily cause an issue with the other.

Based on what I see here, there isn't a need to re-build your index. Your LibraryCatalog could probably stand to be rebuilt (but not before we see your current logs) and maybe a couple of files related to syncing (again, not before we see logs so we can figure out why it's broken on your machine).

Also, for what it's worth, since Alpha 5 Update, indexing is typically a sub-20 hour process for even older CoreDuo based Macs; some newer machines can do it in fewer than 5 hours.

I did a fresh install with Alpha 6 and it indexed in about six hours. My previous full index was with Alpha 3 which took about 14 hours. BIG improvement.
