I'll answer the question but the question isn't going to help much since my usage is probably not representative. I have about ~100mb in games (angry Birds haha!), about 12gb tied to seminary related activities (recordings of classes and so forth), about 1gb in music (more when I travel), ~1gb tied to iOS overhead, and the rest is logos resources.

Since I use my tablet to record audio/video of classes, my use of Logos is minimal. PLUS I don't find the iOS app to be as helpful as the windows app. Perhaps I just need to use it more, perhaps its just my own reticence to change. But never the less, its seldom used.

When I need to do research, I use the desktop app. When I need to read long passages of books, I use the mobile app. I hate reading at the computer.

To make reading at the computer a good experience you need a comfortable desk chair (perfectly positioned); a large coffee mug (filled with freshly ground joe); and at my age a good pair of glasses.

Bruce Dunning:From experience I'd be interested in hearing whether people think that 16 GB is enough for that purpose or what thoughts they had on this subject.
16 GB is all I have and I use it almost daily with the Logos app and have no problems. Of course you will be limited as to how many books you can download, but if you have an internet connection, you don't need to download the books to your iPad.

Me too. That's why I looking to get something suitable. How many resources to you usually keep on your mobile device? Just the ones you are reading or an assortment of other books too?
Using adventure and community to challenge young people to continually say "yes" to God
Depends, if I know I'm going to use something I always make sure that is on my device. My favorite translation or two, and some commentaries that were useful for a situation and never taken off. I too prefer to read on my iPad. But my desk chair is awful comfy :)

Generally speaking, here is what I keep on my iPad mobile app:

Generally speaking, here is what I keep on my iPad mobile app: An assortment of Bible translations. The books I cam currently reading. A number of other books I plan to read in the near future (but never actually seem to get to). A handful of general purpose resources (i.e. Bible Knowledge Commentary, etc).
Thanks Alabama, That's pretty much what I have on my 16 GB phone right now but I find it difficult to read a book on something that small. I'm coming to the conclusion that I will probably use a tablet the same way.

I find reading on the phone difficult too… which is why my phone has much less resources. Mostly just a few bibles, a general commentary, and a few books I might read if I get stuck somewhere.
Bruce Dunning: I'm in the middle of deciding which new tablet I'd like to get which will be primarily used for reading books and not serious study. From experience I'd be interested in hearing whether people think that 16 GB is enough for that purpose or what thoughts they had on this subject. FYI - I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the ipad mini for it's size and the fact that I already use an iphone.

While I have a tablet with 32 gig on my tablet, 26.5 gig of that is available even with my apps all up and running. Among those apps, I use the Logos mobile app with several resources open, Chrome Web browser and Kindle ereader. Given that, I would say 16 Gig would be sufficient. All of that said I am using an Android tablet (ASUS TF-300 with Android 4.2) so it may be different than an iPad in how it manages memory.

Bob - The issue isn't memory (ram), but storage space. The number of programs "running" isn't an issue. A 64 GB device won't let you "run" more apps than a 16 GB device… but it will let you install more. (16/32/64 refers to the storage space on the device, not the ram).
For what its worth, my tablet has 32 internal gb which is enough for everything but my music. That i keep on an external microsd, 32gb and its full. If I did more pictues and vids, I would prob want more space.
I usually have the NICOT/NICNT, BECNT, NAC, ESV Study Bible and a few other single volume commentaries on my ipad, along with a few Bible translations. For this kind of a use, 16 Gb is ample space. But what must be kept in mind, is the other apps that contain books/documents that you use and read. The other ones I have are Kindle and Google Drive and sometimes storing all books/documents from these apps, for offline use, take a considerable amount of space on your device.
I know this wasn't the main topic on hand but I would highly suggest getting an iPad over an android (although I am pro-android) for the following reasons:- Apple likes their hardware and software to mesh seamlessly for so many reasons and the primary one that I see is that apps don't conflict and drain system resources and so your battery life is phenomenal on Apple products.- Apps are better written for iOS than the Android, graphically. I wrote some thing on this in the forums. Can read here.
If I think of anything else I will update my post. But from a power user who uses and has used Logos, Faithlife and Proclaim on both the Android and iOS devices, I would definitely suggest the iPad over an Android tablet.
Ritchin, thanks for taking time to express your opinions on this. I too have used both the Apple and Android on other devices and agree with you. I think that 16 GB should work for Logos purposes alone but I have to think through how I might use it for other purposes.
Your welcome and it was my pleasure!

Bob Schlessman:True enough Alabama. In my desire for brevity I did mix up two different aspects of tablets.
No problem. Just clarifying for others who might not understand.
(Wow. For a 32 GB device, you have a lot of "free space!")
