What happened to the Logos App in the Amazon App store?  Biblia (the Spanish version) and Faithlife are still there but no basic Logos app.  Even the link from Logos is dead (http://www.logos.com/kindlefire).

I found it here.

Yes, that's the Biblia app that has a Spanish language focus.  The Logos "Bible" app seems to have disappeared.

Hi Gregg, Can you try the link again?  It works fine for me.

Yes, the link works but when I click on download (http://www.amazon.com/Logos-Bible-Software/dp/B0062RM1VQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=mobile-apps&ie=UTF8&qid=1338325334&sr=1-1)  Amazon says the page doesn't exist.  I also can't find the app in the Amazon appstore by searching for it from either a PC or my Kindle Fire.

Yes indeed. If you list the apps published by Logos Bible Software, it is not on the list: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_mobile-apps?_encoding=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=Logos%20Bible%20Software&node=2350149011

I discovered what the issue is - Logos now offers in-app purchasing but Amazon doesn't allow that, so they pulled the app.  We've submitted a new version to Amazon with that feature removed.  Sorry for the trouble.  In-app purchasing will still be available for non-Amazon versions of Logos.

Amazon's highly proprietary model is the greatest weakness of their tablet devices and the primary reason I'll be replacing my Fire with an iPad or true Android tablet this year.  The Fire's a great e-reader but Amazon's decision to deny users access to Google Play makes it a second-rate device.  Something to consider for those looking for a tablet ... especially if the primary interest is Logos.

If a proprietary model is the thorn in your side, I would not even consider an iPad. Apple makes Amazon look like they are open source.

I agree there's some proprietary nature to all these devices but it's interesting one can read Kindle books, view Amazon instant video and listen to Amazon MP3s on the iPad and on other Android devices but one cannot access either Google Play or iTunes content on an Amazon device.  Seems a bit one sided ....

It is, but you have to consider Amazon's intent. Along with leading everything on the device back to Amazon for profit purposes, they also want a trouble free device. They want to make sure that the "out of the box" experience is smooth for every user, from the grandmother to the 7 year old. These tight controls not only make for happy consumers (for the most part), but they also reduce customer support costs.

The same is true for Apple. While detractors may argue that there is a somewhat maniacal intent behind Apple, it's all about money, and the saving of the same.

But  Android has is open source, so there is a "fighting the unknown frontier" attitude that has gone along with it. Thus making it the most flexible for the user, but also the easiest to mess up with, as it were.

Another thing on the Vyrso detail page:

"You are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions."

Hi Brian, At this point we don't know - it is in Amazon's court now.  As of today they have approved the app from a technical standpoint but it still needs to be approved by the content team.  Amazon hasn't said how long that might take.  We'll announce on the forums when Logos is again available on the Amazon store.
