It's not clear whether this has already been reported, but this Hebrew issue is specific to the content area of Clippings & Notes.

Whilst selecting Gen 4.1 in the LHB, I couldn't include the chapter # but was able to include the verse #.

Are you able to select it in the resource to highlight it, and then it is not included in the Clipping or the Note? Or, are you unable to highlight it prior to attempting to add it to a document?

Sorry, the real issue is the way the verse # and text pasted into the clipping/note.

FWIW I was unable to select the chapter # AND the text in LHB (it works in some other Hebrew bibles).

The same reversal of text also occurs with the AFAT  (this was supposed to have been fixed in Beta 5).

I have created a case for the first verse of a chapter appearing left justified with the verse number on the left.

I am able to select the chapter number, however, it is difficult. I will pass this issue to Development for investigation.

We fixed the reversal of Hebrew in Notes and Clippings titles and text added through a Visual Filter in Beta 5. If you are still seeing these issues, please let us know. I have created a new case for the issue of reversed Hebrew text in the body of Notes and Clippings.

I thought it had been fixed in Notes when I read this:-

Beta 5 Release Notes:

Notes

  • Fixed bug which caused Hebrew text to be reversed in titles. (See this thread.)
  • Fixed bug which caused verse numbers to appear on the left when copied from a Hebrew Bible.

These are still elementary errors, so if the verse # is reversed it would be hard to escape the fact that the text is also reversed.

Nothing changed in Notes - verse # on left as per original screenshot.

Clipping is fixed whether I create a new clipping  or paste into an existing one, but note the citation:

EDIT: Citation is not pasted with Greek text.

It would prefer that Add a clipping preserved the original Hebrew font (SBL Hebrew) as it does for the text pasted below it.

The case for the verse number appearing on the left is still open. The issue of Hebrew text appearing reversed in the body of Notes and Clippings is what was fixed in Beta 7, not the issue of the verse number. If you are still seeing Hebrew text appearing reversed, please let us know.

Dave Hooton:

note the citation:

I am able to reproduce the issue of the reverse citation when pasting text into Clippings on Windows and will report it to Development.

Dave Hooton:

I am unable to reproduce this issue. What Greek resource were you coping from?]

There is currently an active case for this issue. I have added a link to this thread to that case.

SBLGNT. But it appears I copied a short verse at Ro 8:1. The citation appears when the first word of verse 2 is included.

With NA27 the citation appears for Ro 8:1.

That is fixed, but the font size hasn't been fixed i.e. too large.

I am having trouble reproducing this. Are you seeing this issue each time you paste text into the body of a clipping or are there other reproduction steps I should try?

I have created a case for the first verse of a chapter appearing left justified with the verse number on the left.

The verse number appearing to the left of the verse for the first verse of a chapter when the chapter number is not included is currently by design. There are plans to add a new toolbar button to switch between RTL and LTR paragraph directions so that users can correct this situation when it arises.

Note that Microsoft Word has this same issue if a single verse is copied from Logos. The attached screenshots show the effects of changing the paragraph from LTR to RTL in Word. A similar RTL/LTR toggle is planned, which will make it possible to correct this situation when it occurs.

It happens with RTL text in the clipping i.e. create a clipping with text from a Hebrew bible, then paste a selection from any resource (LTR or RTL).

As mentioned previously, I can't select the chapter number in LHB but it otherwise behaves as you describe (below). But how do you explain the verse on the right with BHS/WIVU and the left alignment in both?

And then the behaviour is totally different (normal?) for Clippings:-

(I shrunk the large citation for clarity and if I didn't mention it before, it is right aligned!).

The issue at hand is pasting paragraph fragments from one context to another.

The editor will merge paragraphs based on whether the start or end (or both)  is a fragment. Merging a partial paragraph (like you get when you select a verse but don't grab the leading chapter/verse indicator) from a RTL source (e.g. A Hebrew bible) into a LTR paragraph will result in a LTR paragraph with RTL runs. Toggling the paragraphs text direction will get you what you want in this case.

The discrepancy deals with either the content pasted in (fragment or not) and the context to which it was pasted (LTR or RTL).

Feel free to share the note via the FaithLife group I set up and I can pull the actual serialized data if you'd like.

MS Word handles fragments in a similar manner. (although there are likely edge cases that both apps handle differently)

Hopefully those details help more than confuse.

(BTW the keyboard shortcuts for text direction are Left Ctrl + Left Shift for LTR and Right Ctrl + Right Shift for RTL)

They are looking to be more helpful (with the shortcuts)! But citations work a little differently. I'll report back after investigating further.
