Help with a search

I am looking for a way to do a search in the new testament, pariticularly the gospels. I am wanting to search for questions that are asked by Jesus or anyone else. Is there a way to define a search so that it returns results for phrases that end with ? question mark.

I am doing research on the questions asked in the new testament and looking for a way to get a list without having to thumg thru the texts.

The direct answer is to use Ctrl+F in the resource and enter ? in the Find box, but it is slow and may not be complete so try the other ways to Search for questions (each with strengths and weaknesses):-

I am no expert in this area, but I spend a half an hour goofing off. Let me show you what I came up with, and maybe someone will correct me and I will learn something too.

I knew that I wanted to look for "interrogatives," so I muddled around until I figured out how to do that. This method isn't full proof… but here is what I came up with. Note: Some of them were translated into english without question marks. (i.e. Matthew 21:27)

The basic problem is that you can't Search for ? directly, except in the resource itself using the Find box (Ctrl+F). Then you won't get all instances of Peter's (or whoever) questions because of the use of pronouns e.g. "he said". With Jesus we have a way to restrict the search by using a range which is a Passage List of the Words of Christ. Here's an example from the forum list above:-

WOC-Gospels is the Passage List. Note that it won't work if you use the Search field "Words of Christ" (rather than All Bible Text), because it doesn't include words like "Jesus answered" in Matt 3:15.

This is something of a tough nut to crack. Although you seem to be using the English, I would suggest that you might want to take a look at the passages listed in <logosres:ggntlhr;ref=Page.p_1235;off=1124> dealing with the interrogative. This is A T Robertson's A Greek Grammar of the New Testament in the Light of Historical Research. You could always search for interrogative particles and prepositions, but that would not give you all of the questions since questions do not always contain an interrogative particle or preposition as Robertson notes in the first sections listed.

It might be helpful in our attempts to give you some guidance if you could specify whether there is some reason beyond simply attempting to locate all of the questions. Is there a further goal you are attempting to achieve?

There is a resource I own i Logos called "all the questions in the Bible". The TOC is by bible book. You could possibly use this if nothing else as a check for the search suggestions above.

It is an older resource, I believe from a Thomas Nelson bundle many, many years ago. It is not tagged very well nor has it been updated. As a result it is probably not as useful as it could be, except that you have every question in the bible by book with a link to the Bible text. It cannot be linked and any reference using the cited by tool is to the entire bible book, not the specific bible reference. It does make a good cross check for other searches that may be suggested. I do not know if it is still for sale on the Logos website, but it is useful in getting the information the OP wants.
