Moody Titles

What Happen to all the Moody titles in Logos?

Moody couldn't come to an agreement with Logos regarding selling the resources and they got pulled. We don't know particulars. You can see the thread announcing it here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/69039.aspx?PageIndex=1

A contractual disagreement between Logos and the publisher. All "logos edition" resources have been pulled from sale. NOTE: this does not effect anyone's previous purchases. Also, Moody titles are still available through Vyrso, which has a different set of licensing agreements with publishers.

It would be interesting to hear from Logos about whether talks are ongoing, or if communication has ceased...

Unlikely.
Kent Hendricks said:Bruce Dunning said:Kent can you explain in general terms why this is happening? Can we still purchase them today?
I'm sorry; I'm not able to go into further detail.

Phil Gons">We're not treating this as temporary. It's unlikely that they will be coming back in the future.

Well, just out of curiosity … it now yea many months later and so … anything at all possible at this point? Or, is this "dead in the water" ad infinitum?

Hum. So, we can buy Moody resources in Vryso? Don't Vryso books sync with Logos? If so, then I'm guessing we could buy them in Vryso, sync with Lgoos, and the net result would be indisguisable from buying them in Logos, wouldn't it?

In terms of reading them, but they are not indexed to the same standards that are used for LOGOS books. As reference books, they would not be as useful; but as general reading, they would serve just as well.

The Moody resources previously in Logos are not in Vyrso, nor are they likely to be so. Vyrso resources are created in the Logos format, but are not "logos editions." They are bare bones, auto converted epubs into the Logos format.

Still disturbing.
There is one resource I was about to get, and now need that I am unable to purchase. [Maybe someone can sell me theirs if they are not likely to be using it (go ahead, ask me what it is)].
But in any event, I would like to humbly propose that in the future, if there is even the slightest possibility of a change coming that 1] there might be some kind of 'prayer request' or notice of some kind given and 2] that if there is to be an end to any offering that is currently available, that a grace period be announced during which people who are interested may purchase the product(s) they had on their Wish-List. ['ONE DAY' or 'LATER TODAY' does NOT qualify as any kind of a grace period.]

We actually had a week or so from the time of the announcement and its implementation AFAIR - in spite of what the announcement said.

Personally, I am surprised that we got any warning at all. Think about it: You are negotiating with another party, and things aren't going well. Your desire is to continue the relationship... so what do you do? Tell everyone else: "I don't think this is going to work out..." Really? My assumption is that negotiations were basically finished at the point this message was given, and Logos generously gave advanced warning before the resources were pulled.

I was thinking it was close to two week, but I cannot remember. Also, most companies do not share when they stop carrying a product, why should we hold Logos to a different level?Floyd Johnson said:Ron Corbett said:ONE DAY' or 'LATER TODAY' does NOT qualify as any kind of a grace period.]

Thu, Apr 18 2013 10:21 AM- Phil Gons announced that titles are being removed this day or the next
So they gave us a warning of about 8 or 9 days.

Would it be of any assistance here if we made an effort to contact Moody directly and request their resources through the Logos channel? Thoughts?

It can't hurt. I think it would take a lot of requests to make a difference.

Was there ever a statement from Bob about why the Moody titles are no longer available? I know his statement about the Theological Journals was very helpful, even though he didn't reveal a lot of details about the negotiations. I really wanted to have the MacArthur commentaries in Logos. I have them in print and love them.

I believe it was a contact disagreement, and from the sounds of it, it was a very large disagreement.Kevin Maples said:Was there ever a statement from Bob about why the Moody titles are no longer available? Did you guys see how A&E brought back that Duck Dynasty guy back after some 250,000 signed a petition about it! That's what I would do about Moody or getting the MacArthur series back in the program of things. Start a petition and then advertise it and advertise it more until you get enough names to make a difference and then send it to Moody and to Logos or they may monitor it directly. Who knows you may get enough support to get through to them.

Sorry guys, I'm not in a bad mood or anything, but can we give this Moody thing a rest. It's been discussed before in a 19 page thread (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/69039.aspx) and all of the suggestions being repeated here have been discussed on that other thread. From Petitions to emails to Moody (which I sent an email and got a reply like all those who sent an email did) and nothing worked. So in all honesty, we need to accept the fact that if Moody doesn't want to publish with Logos anymore, then it doesn't matter what we do, it's not going to happen and we cannot force them to come back to Logos if they cannot come to terms and we will never know the real reasons, so let's get over it.
Therefore, the point is: We don't need another tiring/boring thread to continue a discussion that has been made before on a 19 page thread that was created this year (2013).
Solution: If anybody asks again about moody titles - 1) Don't reply or 2) leave ONE reply that includes the 19 page old thread that has plenty of discussion on the subject: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/69039.aspx I think Jacob Hantla gave a great response, but then everybody else had the urge to continue replying with things that have already been discussed here ~~~> http://community.logos.com/forums/t/69039.aspx (Again, the 19 page thread)...LOL...AND NO, I'm not feeling moody, but come on, let's get real and let's get over it already. Jacob's response was all that was needed to be done with a repetitive thread. I know Rosie and other MVP's have made the same suggestion I am making when a repeated thread wants to start again; so I don't need your back-lashing for posting this. Save it and again, I'm not "moody" (no pun intended). ;-)
Blessings and Happy New Year!

Edit: Just a final note: I think all of you, except the OP (e.g. abondservant, Alabama, Supertramp, and others -- I didn't get a chance to read the whole 19 page old discussion) all of you posted before, so again, why carry on with a senseless discussion when all that was needed was Jacob's response. No and I'm not Moody! LOL

A&E brought back that Duck Dynasty
I have never watched it, I would never watch it myself, I admire his conviction, even if a bit misguided. Yes all sin is sin, but equating homosecuality with beastiality seems a bit much, and more worrying to me is his views on marriage (claiming if he got married it would be ideally to a 14 or 15 yo.).

"A bit misguided" is an understatement, but we'd need another thread for that and probably Logos would lock it up immediately out of fear of them being shut down by the media...LOL [:P]

Since you mentioned me by name, I'd like to point out this is my first post in this thread since may. Which was around the time this was a current discussion. So you may want to check the date stamps before you call people out by nameDAL said:Edit: Just a final note: I think all of you, except the OP (e.g. abondservant, Alabama, Supertramp, and others -- I didn't get a chance to read the whole 19 page old discussion) all of you posted before, so again, why carry on with a senseless discussion when all that was needed was Jacob's response. . This was a dead thread that has found new life. I am not "moody" either brother, just making an observation and suggesting a greater attention to detail.

I know the dates (I pay attention to details that's why your name came up in the list, and it wasn't to bash you or anybody), but my point is that the discussion has already been buried and there's no need to bring it to life again with the same discussion and suggestions that have already been made before. So what's the "new life" when everything that has been discussed before is resurfacing again? Is pointless! The only response that was needed to this "new" thread (in reality old because it has been discussed in great detail before) was Jacob's response; let the OP or anybody else read what has been discussed on the subject to get his answer. But anyway, my observation and suggestion to you (since you felt the urge to respond) is: don't take it personal brother [;)] -- "e.g." means example, so your nickname and others (e.g. Alabama, supertramp, etc.) were only used as "examples," that's all. I'm sorry if it offended you, that was not the original intend. And no, again, I'm not moody LOL
Blessings!

To many Logos users the "Moody" info is new news. It does not hurt to address new posts.
I doubt we ever see Moody in Logos again. I stated my reasons in the original thread. I was so convinced of this when the announcement was made that I bought all the Moody titles I wanted before they went away. (No, I don't want to sell any.)
