There is Herbert Lockyer's All the Music of the Bible (not available in Logos).

Logos should get all of Herbert Lockyer's "All the * of the Bible" series. They don't have any of them yet. They do have Larry Richards' "Every * in the Bible" series, but he doesn't have one on hymns or songs or music.

I would love this too have have suggested it in the past. I made a personal book for some of them but not "All the Music of the Bible."

Given that there is no consensus, the answer is that there are competing resources.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    Hi Mike:

If you navigate to Paperless Hymnal's web site ( http://paperlesshymnal.com/ ) near the bottom of the home page in the center column (in the free download section) you will find a free 1.7 mg Excel spreadsheet listing over 8400 songs categorized by Scripture reference.

In addition to Scripture, they index songs by lyric author, music author, topics, song title and song book.

You can sort the lists by key.

There is a very large database of information: including columns on the date the song was written; lyric meter; tune name; First Stanza Lyrics;  Chorus, Refrain, Bridge, Coda, Sanctus Lyrics; Copyright Holders or Administrators.

Also in the free items column, they offer 70 free PowerPoint song slides so you can preview their product. Our church uses their product to project our music. We have found them to be very affordable and of high quality.

    Chuck

Peace, Mike!               I haven't researched this note I made some time ago ...          it's one of my very many projects ...

I think this is what you are asking for?????

Raymond Brown -- List of hymns in New Testament The following is a list of hymns often detected by scholars in NT letters (scholarly estimates run from five to thirty); it does not claim to be complete, and those marked with an asterisk would be the most agreed on: Phil 2:6–11* Col 1:15–20* Heb 1:3 1 Cor 13 Eph 1:3–14* 1 Pet 1:3–5 Rom 3:24–26 Eph 1:20–23 1 Pet 1:18–21 Rom 6:1–11 Eph 2:14–18 (22) 1 Pet 2:21–25 Rom 8:31–39 Eph 5:14* 1 Pet 3:18–22 Rom 11:33–36 Titus 3:4–7 1 Tim 3:16* 2 Tim 2:11–13*

Brown, R. E. (1997). An introduction to the New Testament (491). New York: Doubleday.

If you want me to look up some of these for you in case you do not have this resource, please let me know; and I will "advance" my project a wee bit!            *smile*

Philippians 4:  4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........

Mike, please get back to us re. this thread ....        I just re-read the comments of others; and I grant that they may be giving you what you've asked for???

In my mind I was thinking of the hymns and liturgy of Early Christian Worship, for example in the catacombs of Rome, but perhaps way, way, way earlier ...

Look at Paul in Philippians 2 -- that's a hymn, I think!    *smile*

9 Therefore yGod has zhighly exalted him and bestowed on him athe name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus bevery knee should bow, cin heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and devery tongue confess that Jesus Christ is eLord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 4:  4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........
