I have a huge number of collections I had developed in Logos 3.  Is there any way to import them into Logos 4 and then add resources?  Help. Feel like I'm starting all over again

Brent: Welcome to the forums.

Short Answer: NO BUT

the above website by Mark Barnes has two excellent video's describing the L4 way of doing collections.

If you are a "math major" it should be very simple.

If not, also go to the Logos WIKI (there is a link at the top of this page) where you will find examples of collection that you can cut-and-paste right into the L4 Collection "Start with" window.

Please make sure you name-rename each one before you start to work or they might over-write each other. Others here will also give you additional suggestions. The L4 collections are still used for searching. You will see some of them mentioned in John Fidel's "Layout" videos.

Brent You can't just import them because Collections are completely different in L4.

In L3, as you know you had to dilligently maintain your collections when you added new books.  In L4 it's automatic because the collections are dynamic.  They self populate based upon keywords you use.

That's a familiar feeling. L4 is really different in a lot of ways. So hang in.

As Steven said collections are very different in L4 so can't be imported. Along with the rest of us, you'll have to re-create them. Learn how the dynamic feature works first and you will save time. You'll discover that there is work to do on some of Logos' tagging of resources which makes the dynamic feature not as beneficial as it could be.

The goal of this new way of doing collections is to let you set them up and never have to manually add a new resource to a collection again. It will be automatic based on the rules you set up. Again, tagging is the key and it isn't perfect right yet.
