Personal Books (PBB) & the Lectionary

Really, really excited that Logos has added Lectionary tags for Personal Books (PBB).  Unfortunately, the wiki notes http://wiki.logos.com/Lectionary_and_Harmony_Support aren't terribly clear about the data fields that I need to put in - an example would be extremely helpful!

Has anyone used the new 5.1 Lectionary feature with Personal Books?  This is a particularly busy season at church or I'd simply experiment with it until it made sense.

Blessings, Holly

I can't really help you, but I know there were threads in the Beta forum some weeks ago, including examples. Or you can try searching for relatively recent posts by MJ Smith that include words like 'lectionary' or 'harmony'.

What you need depends in part on what lectionary you are doing. Some fit very nicely into the assumed structure ... some you "misuse" tags to make them work. An example:

So MJ, this means that I have to add calendar dates to my lectionary readings?  Is there a way to simply tie them to the RCL calendar?

    "Year: A; Season: Lent; Week:6

    Readings:(OT, Psalm, Epistle, Gospel)

Call to Worship, Prayer of Confession, Assurance of Pardon, Communion Liturgy, Prayer of Dedication, Suggested Hymns, etc."

I'm trying to get all my lectionary-based liturgy into Logos PBB so that all of it comes up whenever I look for liturgy for "Proper 11, Year C" all the right stuff comes up from all the various liturgy books and I can select what I need for planning worship.  As it is now, I have to use a particular Scripture reading to do the search (not all bad) but it doesn't give me the richness of readings for the day.  I really am not going to the trouble of calculating and adding calendar dates for the next 20 years to every book!

Hi Holly, while I am not MJ, and she might have better answers than I have.  But as far as I know, you do need to have a calendar date, and as of right now, we cannot tie things to the RCL calendar.

This has been one of my bigger issues with Logos.  Even their lectionary items are tied to a calendar date - not a lectionary date.

At the moment, yes. But Logos has been doing some work to tie the Missal/BCP to the lectionary so there may be a new datatype to help in the next few weeks.

Thanks MJ & Tom!  I look forward to the day we have an integrated Lectionary datatype!

MJ, I have to say, that I love your Creation Lectionary!  Is this a real example you're working on?

The full creation lectionary is ~4 week/3 years. It is complete but the Logos system doesn't allow for the easy sharing of lectionaries (PB's). I'm hoping to share some soon.

Since 2013, any updates on the lectionary syntax to build one a personal book?  The wiki page is not very clear and you mentioned new datatypes were coming
