If Academic purchases are not transferable, then after my death, nobody can claim my licenses or what? Secondly, lets say that I am enrolled to academic discount, then what, are all resources during my enrollment considers as academic and are not trasferable? How do I recognize a regular sale from academic discount? Can I convert academic purchases to non academic?
This might not answer you questions but it could be helpful. http://community.logos.com/forums/p/50184/380033.aspx#380033
I think the answer is No to the first question and second question. to the third question-I think that it ALL falls under the academic discount. I see you point as I would like to nitpick as well but no I think Logos makes it clear on the academic discount that it's not transferable. Whereas when I purchased it (Feb 2012), it wasn't crystal clear. Now it is.....If you want to keep your stuff maybe talk to customer services about paying the full rate to change it over. Although I've never heard of anyone doing it. Would it be worth it to make it transferable? Only you can answer that. hope that helps.

Additional questions;
when I was enrolled to academic discount I purchased a lot of resouces but now many of them I upgraded with a bundle or different upgrade packages. Are those resources which are mixed are transferable?

ChelseaFCthank you ChelseFC for respond. According to your post, during my 3 academic years: Christmas sale, thanksgiving, march maddness and other titles are all not transferable and after my death they will all go to the grave?
the link above does not really answers those questions

What if I transfer them to someone else who is approved for an academic discount?

You would need to contact Customer Service for an official answer, but it seems to me that these sale items were not purchased under Academic Discount and should therefore be transferrable.

Wild Eagle,
No problem. Yes I think that they would go to the grave with you and mine will as well. My educated guess based on all that I've seen from posters on the subject, Dan Pritchett, and Bob Pritchett is that anything under the discount-sales included-would fall under the academic discount. Although that last part hasn't be explicitly said, but can be implied. This is just my educated guess and I'd like to be wrong on this. As I purchased Logos 5 under the discount but it was the initial launch period so there was no difference in price. The issues that you raise could be quite tricky. Maybe a Logos employee could chime in on this but I wouldn't get my hopes up for sales items or my Logos 5 qualifying to be transferred because it is now very clear when you apply for the discount that you can't miss it. But let's hope my guess is wrong.

I agree with Jack. Only Logos can give an official answer. But I'm betting your upgrades from Academic to non-academic are transferable.

Recommend an email to bob at logos dot com or dan at logos dot com for the official answer. They are President/CEO and VP of Marketing. If they cannot give a definitive answer…

Many grave packages now offer WIFI connections. Modern version of Samuel / Saul.
I still think they should cap the time-limit on the academic discount.

I'm hoping that jack is correct on this. I've purchased a lot on CP whilst I was on academic program and would hate to think that it would all go to the grave with me. Likewise, there were many public offers, not connected with academic pricing, that I took advantage of and these also shouldn't have the same restriction as the academic discount ones.
I think I'll email Bob to find out for sure.

Of course, you could pass along your user name and password. Your heirs would just have to assume your identity.

Good one.....what do you mean by the second statement? An academic time limit i.e. when you are only in university or a time limit on when books you've purchased become a normal part of your library?

Very cheeky Jack! I'm sure this thought has crossed many minds but you have just expressed what perhaps some people have thought about.

I won't say they will never transfer them.
BUT!
I think they generally don't.

I think there's nothing to stop this and ultimately, this is probably what could be done. However, the weakness I see is that it would make it very hard for your heir to add anything new to your library.
Personally, if I cannot pass my library onto one of my children when I depart (hopefully decades from now), then the Academic discount isn't worth it. I would rather watch for good sales and prepubs, which are often competitive to the discount and retain full ownership.

I suggest (as has already been suggested), reading this post again:
http://community.logos.com/forums/p/50184/380033.aspx#380033
As I understand it, the non-transferability of academic licenses is to prevent 'I'll buy it on the academic discount today and sell it to you next week for 10% more and you pay the $20 transfer fee, saving thousands!' scenario. It's not to stop you from bequeathing your library in your will.
For what it's worth, we are always on the side of our customers. It's the only smart way to grow a business. Every policy we have that feels restrictive is some legally or financially necessary protection against specific (and sometimes imagined) abuses that would make our business model untenable. If it's reasonable, doesn't kill our business, and is pro-customer, we're going to be okay with it.
I only hope all of our heirs value this investment in Bible study resources as much as we do! :-)

Bob, thanks for another considered reply. As someone who has invested heavily in Logos through the academic discount program - and ideally would like to pass Logos on some day - I appreciate your reassurance. [Y]

He sent a nice reply, reassuring me that bequeathing a library was not the focus of the policy on academic transfers, and he has already posted a similar reply in the forum. So my mind is put at ease now.
Thanks for sharing.

Bob- here is another question for you...
Lets say someone buys a single book as part of a set on academic license, but later uses dynamic pricing to purchase the whole set - the whole set no longer having an academic discount. What type of license would that product have? Or would it not matter in that specific instance?
Never mind, the pro-customer part of your answer I think answers this specific question.L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,
