Free Logos 5 Engine + Clause Search?

Hello,
I've bought some resources and downloaded the free Logos 5 Engine for Mac. Everything works very nice.
But I've noticed that I'm missing the "Clause"-Search function. So I assume that feature is not available in the free Version. Now I've seen that it's not available in the "Starter"-Edition, too.
Since I don't need all the resources from the "Starter"-Edition I was wondering if it is possible to buy a resource (perhaps the Minimal Crossgrade?) to have that "Clause"-Search function available in my free Version?
Thanks in advance!
Tom

The MC was designed for people moving from L4 to L5. I would suggest a call to Customer Service.
Making Disciples! Logos Ecosystem = LogosMax on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Win11), Android app on tablet, FSB on iPhone & iPad mini, Proclaim (Proclaim Remote on Fire Tablet).

That would give you the clause search and the two resources needed to run the clause search: The SBL Greek NT and the Lexham Hebrew Bible.

Hi David,
I would like to call the Customer Service. My problem is my very poor english (I'm from Germany). So I'm not very optimistic I would understand everything or could express my situation properly.
But I will do that if I have to. Thanks for your advice!

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your answer.
Is it possible to buy the Minimal Crossgrade and upgrade my free Logos5-Engine?
I'm not sure because (as David also mentions) the description to the MC points out that it is only for Logos4-Users?!?Otherwise all my problems would be solved. That would be great.

Yes, you can buy the L5 MC, but you should be aware that you won't get all the databases. You will get the [generally] more advanced L5 databases, but you will still miss the [generally] more basic L4 databases. To get those you would need the L4 Minimal Crossgrade as well. You should take a careful look at the content of both MC's before you decide, and also compare with package prices.
Generally, buying the way you intend to do ends up becoming very expensive. It's usually better to buy a package, and then add the L5 MC afterwards if one wants additional databases (it's got dynamic pricing, so the price will go down after you've bought a package).

Hi fhg,
thanks, that helps a lot.
You're right it's about the money (I'm still a student)fgh said:It's usually better to buy a package
What do you mean with "package"? Do you mean something like the "Starter"-Edition. And then upgrade from there?
Or do you mean to by the L4 MC first and then the others? Thanks,
Tom

fgh means that it is a better value to purchase a BIG package to begin with, rather than a little here, and a little there. In other words, the discounts are biggest on the biggest packages. In the long run, it will be better for a customer to purchase the bigger package at the onset, than to slowly move up from package to package.

So I've read this again. Down there it says:
[quote]
The Logos 5 Minimal Crossgrade is designed only for users who are coming from a Logos 4 base package. If you have never owned a Logos 4 base package, you will need to also purchase the Logos 4 Minimal Crossgrade.I've never owned a Logo 4 base package. Does it then say, that I have to buy the L5 MC and the L4 MC and the I'm able to do a "Clause"-Search without "limitations".
Sorry to be so slow on the uptake.

Hi alabama24,
thanks for the answer!
Look, I've bought this resource. These are the original text I have to work with. That's basically all I need.
I'm very, very thankful that Logos offers the free Engine. That's great.
But I think that the "Clause"-Search is an incredible tool and it would be very nice to use it.So L5 MC and L4 MC cost me 260 USD. That's almost the same as the "Starter"-Edition.
So it's very tempting to just buy these two packages.

Yes. Or one of the Verbum packages (they're formally 'Catholic', but many/most European Protestants will probably find them more useful than the regular, very 'American Evangelical', Logos packages.

Never buy an MC before a base package. You will pay maybe $5-10/database, and get maybe $1-2/database in discount on the package. Buy the package first, and you'll pay maybe $1-2/database, and get maybe $5-10/database in discount on the MC (very approximate, but you get the picture). Above all, don't buy both in the same transaction, or you'll pay full price for both. And contact a sales rep before you buy. They can often give you an extra discount on base packages. And if you're a student, you might qualify for the Academic discount.
How much did you pay for SESB? Not more than $117.95, I hope.

Hi Tom!
I'm in the same situation as you
What did you buy to get the 'clause' search?
Did you buy both minimal crossgrades (Logos 4 and 5) or did you get a base package (Starter, Bronze, Silver etc)
Thanks!

Hi Brett,
I've decided to buy a base package.
Thanks,
Tom

As you can see from the signature line in my post, I'm a believer that base packages are a good investment. Happy to hear you've taken the plunge and hope you enjoy and are as blessed by your package as I have been by mine.

Hi abondservant,
I've bought the Logos 5 Biblical Languages Package. It's awesome!

Hi, Tom! It's decent. I have its predecessor the Original Languages Library (which could be bought by anyone, I paid $332.76 and that was not Academic Discount or a sale but a negotiated price - 25% off) which was a little better because it contained a few great monographs, for example about the Epistle of James. But the Biblical Languages Package can only be bought with Academic Discount. The Original Languages Library didn't sell well and when L5 was introduced the Biblical Languages Package was there but at first actually not visible on the website. The 1996 LSJ which it contains is great, I have bought it "separately" at a tremendous price (there were some requirements) - and I plan to manage without BDAG for some time despite starting to take Gk classes:

Hi Unix,
I'm a student (Humboldt University Berlin, Germany), so the Biblical Languages Package was visible to me and it was the right choice for me. It helps me a lot in my studies.
