Links opening book on same side as active book

Using the recent beta, my Desktop is laid out in two windows. Whenever I click a link, the book opens on the left side. It used to be that it opened on the opposite side of the book I was using. So, when I select a word study from my Bible on the left side of the screen, the lexicon now opens on the left instead of the right.

    There have been some changes to the algorithm in this beta - see http://community.logos.com/forums/t/76164.aspx for a discussion on this.

    I have the guide, lexicon or other resource opening on the opposite side; as I expected from v5.1 & earlier. So I'm not sure what is going on with the new algorithm. My basic layout has 3 vertical panels and tabs:-

    EDIT:  the one exception is that Search results for bibles on the R do not always open the resource on the L; very unpredictable and inconvenient.

    Can you give me more specifics? What book are you in and what link in the book are you clicking on? Are you using the context menu?

    If you could post a screenshot of your layout, and the link in the book you're clicking on and the expected behavior, that would be really helpful in tracking this regression down.

    How are you opening the panels? As you know there are several ways to open a panel and depending on how you open it, the app might do something different:

    1. Opening from a link in a panel should try to cluster into a panel that is not the clicked on panel. Since the right most panel is reserved for tools, clicking the link in the R should open in the L panel in your example.

    2. Opening from the menu or command bar or shortcut should try to cluster the panel into the best position. In previous releases, this might have simply opened in the L side.

    I believe that opening from the context menu probably follows rule #2, but should probably follow rule #1. I'll need to check the behavior of that.

    How are you opening the panels?

    I'm opening a resource from a link in a tab or its context menu (#1), expecting that the new resource would open in the opposite panel.so that I can view both resources at once,
