Peace, Jack!                   You are so "friendly," that -- if you don't mind, please -- I'll join your group for a little while, mostly out of curiosity, I guess!   *smile*

This post is timed at 5.48, so you must be an early riser???

The Jews collected their scriptural treasures in targums. For years I have written such notes in my Bible. It was always a sad day when my Bible wore out and all my notes had to be transferred to a new one. I blessed the day that Logos made a way for me to have permanent storage. Each Christmas I give my six children an updated version of Bible notes on a CD-ROM, so there will be no competition to inherit my Bible.

Everyone is welcome to see what tickles my fancy.

Yes, I have kept East Coast hours for many years.

Hi Jack I'm from N Ireland & would like a look at your note files. Have tried to follow your directions but when I get to your page I don't see the document folder. Have I done something wrong? Thanks for your help. Every blessing Gerald

Even carefully written instructions are always subject to misunderstanding. <grin> To go from my Faithlife page to the documents page, click on the documents tab as shown on the attached picture.

Peace, Gerard!         Stay with it, please!          *smile*                      Jack's notes are certainly worth finding!!!!           Come back here if you've had difficulty ...

Edit:    Also, there IS a way of downloading from a documents file directly into one's own Logos 5.1 Installation ...

This is to be handled with care for a considerable number of reasons, including one wouldn't want a bunch of notes to "clean up" later ...   *smile*

............    but, the capability is there ...

Hi, Milford:

Would you tell me where to find those steps?

Blessings, Jack!           *smile*

I just typed the following up in Word ....            If there is any problem, I will clean it up and send it again ....    However, it should work ...

oopppss!            You would have to use it for another group, since I wouldn't think you'd want to download your own documents to yourself, eh???   *smile*

Here are my notes ...    it worked for me ...........         I'd love to hear that it worked for others!               *smile*

Peace, Jack!

Now, you can share with your children also ….              And everybody!    *smile*

Some of this may be overkill, i.e. “not necessary,” but it works …

If you are signed in to Logos – and Go to your own documents.logos.com

I see my name  ………… Where my name is …  I touch arrow (at the end of my name!)  -- I see a list of the groups to which I belong ..

I get to Jack Hairston, click it, it becomes “live”

I see your Psalm notes dated October 12 – go and get them..

I now open Psalm 1.1 in my Logos 5, I see your yellow note, Jack!     It is there!

These notes are a little rough, but I’m going to send them…

Ask me to “clean them up” if they don’t work right; however, I am now the happy new possessor of your excellent Psalm notes …

If you want to try it yourself, Kevin Becker shared with this group the most incredible file ..

I will be grateful to him until I meet him on earth or in heaven ...    likely in heaven, I guess..

It has enriched my present and future study of Holy Scripture -- Intertextuality - Verses ..

Also, Jack, there would be many, many groups with available documents for your to incorporate into your Logos 5.1..

.......  poke around a little, eh???           *smile*

Brother Jack, Thank You for the access to your notes. I am doing a personal study in the Psalms and read, with much delight, your note on Psalm 2, "Cosmic Raspberry..." I am starting to see some more of God's humor when he deals with the "wise ones of the world." O that they could really begin to understand...but until they do, we have a big job in front of us trying to teach them of His love and mercy. Keep Preaching the Word!

Hi Jack!             *smile*

You've already been so very kind and gracious ....     !          Thank you, and Thank God for you!                (This is also TODAY! -- The National Day of Thanksgiving here in Canada!)

Anyway, I was over on my Logos 5, looking at Psalm notes ...     I decided to change the colour of one of your notes (the cosmic raspberry one!!!   *smile* ) so that I could more easily differentiate your notes from the ones I've been making in Logos (I've been a Logos user for 20 years this past Spring!)  --    Lo and behold!             I can change it easily -- AND differentiate .......       However, when I go back to your group, Psalms appears as if it were not downloaded to my installation!

So I deleted it and downloaded it again from your group, and it now works perfectly.             It is listed in a shared documents site, and no action is available...

So, I don't quite know where to go from here.    I think that perhaps one of these days I'd like to start a new thread on these forums to discuss the matter with others who probably know the "ins and outs" of downloading others' notes better than  I..      .......

Would you mind if I did that?      You truly do have some excellent and very, very erudite and responsible notes ...        I can see how your six children would truly treasure your Bible notes.....                        However, if changing a note colour or making a brief note on your note files cuts me off from on-going communication with your group and any updates you do on your note files ......., well, then, I'm not quite sure how to handle that....

You have landed on a conundrum wrapped in an enigma. How can you make changes to your copy, yet still receive all the changes I make to my copy. A magazine for computer programmers once published a program I wrote to try to do just that. It was called "Solomon," oddly enough, after the Bible's story about the baby. It turns out that the computer could merge some of the changes, but not all of them. Perhaps the Logos developers are smarter than I, and can figure a way for the computer to do the deed without dismembering the "baby."

(No, I don't mind if you launch such a thread. I'd be interested to watch the fun.) <grin>

Jack, I have a question for you.  Did you take those notes in the FSB or in a bible in Logos?  If in Logos, how did you transfer them to Faithlife. I've been looking to arrange my notes, and I had in mind a system like you have.

Peace, Michael!                   I'll give you a short answer now because I happen to be here.  Jack can add to what I'm sharing with you!    *smile*

The beauty of the whole system is that these are our plain ordinary unadorned notes that we've been keeping for years and years, me in my Logos Desktop!               Sure looks great on FaithLife, but these are the results of our labours ......

Thank you Milford.  Let me start by saying that I love your posts.  Your greeting always makes me smile!  I have been writing some notes in Logos, and I am positive that I am only using a very small fraction of the tools that Logos offers.  I only have a couple of hours a week to delve into Logos, so my learning curve has been very slow and arduous, so I apologize if I am asking "basic" questions.  I reviewed Jack's notes and that is my goal, to have a compendium of notes that I've taken that I can refer back to and use in the future.  I find the "notes" in Logos to be a bit.....laborious in organizing as the order of my notes changes everytime I open a new notes file.  I found the layout that Jack used in Faithlife to be what I was looking to do.  So, I guess my question is, how do I get my notes from Logos into Faithlife?  When I go to Faithlife, I don't have all the tabs that Jack does (i.e. Documents tab).  Do I need to make a "group" and work from there?

I accumulated the notes in Logos before Faithlife existed. To export to Faithlife (or to import them from Faithlife into Logos), please see the included notes. (which have been much improved by Brother Murray's input) Also feel free to tell me how to improve these procedures.
