With the many Windows 8 tablets becoming available...

I agree! It does go further than just tablets. The price of touch screen monitors are coming down and as they become affordable more desktop users will want touch capability. It really is a request for being windows 8 compatible. I have been patiently waiting for the handwriting module to be fixed. The new notes module was a step backwards for me on my tablet. I have been told that the handwriting module will be addressed in 5.3. I must be in the minority as a user of handwriting.0

I would think (and I might be wrong) that the current Logos platform on Windows will need to be rebuild before it becomes scalable from desktop mode to a more touch friendly interface.
In the meantime, Logos might do some band-aid fixes.

I've used touch on Logos4 part-time and Logos5 almost full time.
I notice the current beta seems to begin starting to build in touch fundamentals (I'm not beta ... instead carateen).
There's two areas that would make touch a whole lot easier (and that I very much doubt they'll ever do):
- Make the 'system' panels uniformly finger touch scrollable (currently some are; some aren't; all my resources panes are)
- Add a small popup verse chooser. I know ... I can bring up the fake keyboard. But I've really gotten used to a verse chooser
well back into the Microsoft pre-smartphone days. They're pretty standard-ish. Keeping up with the pastor while
hunting and pecking is not easy at all."If myth is ideology in narrative form, then scholarship is myth with footnotes." B. Lincolm 1999.

I will second this! I love my Surface Pro, and ache for more touch-screen capabilities in Logos 5!
Daniel, Is it worth the cost and effort to buy a Surface pro primarily to use with Logos? Or would you recommend waiting until Logos is more touch friendly?

For me, yes, it was definitely worth it. However, I needed to get a new PC anyway, and I wanted a hybrid tablet/PC (which the Surface Pro is). I've loved the Tablet/PC since getting my Acer Travelmate C110 ten years ago, and even then I used Logos on it.Michael Childs said:Daniel R Bartholomew said:I will second this! I think the Surface Pro 2, now available, addresses some of the weaknesses in the original Surface Pro--longer battery life, etc. But you do pay a premium. For me, it is worth it because it takes the place of two devices: my iPad is now gathering dust, and my old laptop sits in its bag.
You'll have to judge for yourself what you need. I don't use it solely for Logos, but it's one of the main applications I use. I wish it were more touch-friendly, but I can work it pretty good even without it. Still, I think there's something missing, and would love to see Logos 6.0 have full touch/gesture capabilities.0 -

Will add this thread to one I created for suggestions as to what should be in 6.0.
