This is the first official release of the creed files from L3. In L3 I released new batches weekly which worked well for the L3 naming and linking system. For L5, I'm aiming at monthly releases.
What you can do to help/influence sequence creeds are added:
What to remember:
*** File deleted after 3 years to appease poster in forum thread ***
The file has approximately 170 entries of which about 20 are fully edited.
My cover:
Happy New Year.

Thanks for your work!

Very nice MJ. It will be interesting to see this develop.
Using adventure and community to challenge young people to continually say "yes" to God
forum glitch double post when I tried to edit... for some reason I can edit this, but not delete... Hope this doesn't make a third post.

For the SBC we have a number of creedal/confessional type statements.the Second London Confession (1689) (and here as edited and renamed by C.H. Spurgeon)The Philadelphia Confession of Faith (1742)The New Hampshire Declaration of Faith (1833) (if you're calvinist. NOTE: this was the standard until the BF&M was written, and virtually a pre-requisite for churches to join the SBC in America)Treatise on the Faith of the Freewill Baptists (1834) (if you were not calvinist)Abstract of Principles (1858) (first officially adopted by the convention)These were later fused (though with the New Hampshire declaration of faith being the primary basis) into The Baptist Faith and Message, Current "position" statements from the SBC.We also hold to the Chicago statement on inerrancy, and the Chicago statement on Biblical hermeneutics. There are something like 240+ creeds that we have held to across history, written about in this book: Dr. H. Leon McBeth, is titled A Sourcebook for Baptist Heritage, Broadman & Holman 1990 (which is in the Logos catalog, though I don't have it)Another Helpful title is: Christian Doctrine for Everyman: An Introduction to Baptist Beliefs by Millikin - though this is not yet in Logos.
Thank you for the references especially the McBeth.
Thanks for all your work, MJ! Peace! *smile*
I just came across some of your files from L3 on my hard drive. Guess I don't need to save them forever, eh???!!!
Philippians 4: 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........
logosres:creedschr3;ref=CanonsOfDort.Canons_V,_2.9;off=363437 -> New Hampshire confession of Faith in logos (first the description, then further down the actual confession).
logosres:creedschr3;ref=CanonsOfDort.Canons_V,_2.9;off=353237 -> Philidelphia confession (aka Baptist confession of 1688). This is a slight modification of the Westminster confession of 1647, with influences from the Savoy declaration of 1658 logosres:creedschr3;ref=CanonsOfDort.Canons_V,_2.9;off=373008 -> Free will baptists. ... Unfortunately thats all I've got for baptist confessions in Logos. Happy to be of help :) Looking forward to seeing the SBC in your tome :)
MJ
This is a great idea and I am thrilled you are putting so much work into it.
Milford Charles Murray:Guess I don't need to save them forever, eh???!!!
Nope - but I'm still working to get them all in. And the articles about the creeds are not yet envisioned to be redone in this project.
I apologize that many links will fail on this month's version. Things done this month:
8787.CreedPt1Creeds.docx
5852.CreedPt2Catechisms.docx
1121.CreedPt3aDenominations.docx
5381.CreedPt4Indices.docx
I tried to work them in, but my computer doesn't like that .docx. Its not a struggling weakling... 8 cores at 4.1ghz, 32gb of ram, ssd... Yet it was so slow to edit on my machine that it became unusable. Perhaps these will be more easily worked with.
Just checking back in on this project :)Thanks for the hard work MJ
Not forgotten - merely sidetracked by a family issue regarding an 8 year old and adjusting to Logos growth in this area.
Peace, Martha! Of all things! We certainly understand and appreciate your updating us!
*smile* I was just looking at some of your creeds and other various contributions on my almost never-used Logos 3.0g installation on Monday, appreciating the work you did for the Logos Community a number of years ago, .... I think I described it as potpourri back then .... Looked at my PBB's there also while I was in Logos3 and realised that I have almost all my L3 "stuff" over to my L5 installation now. A good feeling!
I was grateful and thinking good things, MJ! And we all know that you do what you can do ... for Him - for His Church - for us!
Thank you again for updating us! We are all busy, but there is an answer for our busyness, eh?! *smile* This answer is according to Wikipedia--so beware it may not be factual .......... and ......... it may not apply to you!

Indeed thank you Martha :)Also you may find this of interest.
This is a great resource. Thanks MJ.
Hi MJ,
Can I ask you a big favor? Can you please remove our ministry from the 8863.creeds.docx? It is very old and contains some seriously wrong information about our ministry that keeps showing up on Google searches. The ministry initials are YHM and it is listed as located in Woodland Hills.
Very grateful for your help!
M
My apologies for any inconvenience, but I also see it listed in the 5381.CreedPt4Indices.docx and 2671.CreedPt3bzDenominations.docx and would greatly appreciate it if you could take us out of these also.
Thanks!
The forum software and my privileges do not allow me to modify existing uploads - I can only delete, modify locally, and reupload under a new name i.e. the automatically assigned numeric prefix. Philosophically, the request is problematic as these are point-in-time files not dynamic files. The only intellectually honest solution is to remove these files and in personal copies use a source from the wayback machine. I am willing to do this but want to have a very carefully worded explanation of why the file was deleted to put in place at the same time. When I have the correct wording I will take care of it.
