Bob,
I know this has already been discussed and answered by you, but I think this is a critical functionality that must be put in place.
While the majority of your customers are not being reached because there are no forums; and the majority of your newsgroup users are willing to switch to using the forums; there have been several users that have stated they will not switch.
Additionally, the past posts in the newsgroups will be lost and while some people at Logos have expressed that this information will be irrelevant with the release of v4.0, I beg to differ. I would HOPE that you are not completely changing how searching and other basic features are accomplished. While I would agree that many of the bug related posts would not necessarily be useful, and some of the diatribes would be better left in the bit bucket, there is still plenty of useful information.
I don't know what specific problems you and your developers found that made you discontinue development for that kind of functionality, but with more than 30 years of software development experience (and much of that in client-server, email systems, forum systems, and other related communications type systems) I cannot think of anything that would not allow a bridge between nntp and a web-based forum system. I would even be willing to donate time and expertise for developing support for this function.
I've been a dedicated customer since 2000 and have been on the newsgroups since I found them soon after that. While I don't post often, I read them daily and would like to thank you and your employees for always being around to listen to your customers.
