New Moody Atlas of the Bible Maps Chopped Up

I just order the New Moody Bible Atlas and the maps are unusable.  They are chopped up and number 1-4.  So if you want to send them to PowerPoint you have to piece them together and then the irritating numbers 1-4 are in the middle of the maps.  They provide a low rez image pieced together but when sent to PowerPoint the image is too fuzzy.  Worse yet the Maps are not available in Bible Facts.

Logos please fix this like the Holman Bible Atlas!   Maybe you can provide a high rez image without the numbers and available in Bible Facts.

Things are unlikely to change since this title is strictly a Vyrso resource.

This is a pretty annoying formatting choice - but not unexpected given the little involvement Logos would have in producing this resource for Vyrso.

Out of interest, how would the kindle version of this resource display these maps?  Does anyone have screenshots they could share from the kindle version?

I believe it's the same.  I don't have the kindle version, but a preview can be viewed on Amazon with chopped up maps.  Kindle reviews also complain about image resolution.

I've found that Kindle and Vyrso versions are usually based on the same source data.  Typos and all.

You would think since this is a Major Bible Atlas it would be integrated in Bible Facts.  I would be willing to pay extra to make this a workable tool.  Can I hear from someone for Logos?

This isn't possible with Vyrso books.   Logos does no work on them to integrate them with the Library.   They are a plain ebook direct from the publisher (no tagging).   The books would have to be converted into a full-fledged Logos book to fully integrate, but Moody Publishers no longer publishes full Logos books.  They still publish through Vyrso, but one should be aware that any books bought in Vyrso will be bare-bones editions, and any problems with them won't get corrected by Logos (type "monograph", poor footnotes, incorrect verse linking, uncorrectable typos, and unworkable formats).

Logos may respond, but they have said all of this before.

On a positive note, if Moody ever does come back to the Logos table, these Vryso-edition reference books would get a free upgrade to their respective Logos edition once it is made available.

After hearing the horror stories with the Atlas product I am glad I had bought it elsewhere (couple months back before it was even offered in Logos from what I know anyway). I just hope the commentary is better, i mean I can live without a lot of Logos bells and whistles but do want to be able to jump to the chapter of the Bible I am looking at relatively quickly.

I don't see it as horror stories - just expectations of Vyrso being more than what it really is and their marketing I believe is partly at fault for that situation along with the great product full Logos books offer.

I didn't purchase this to be a primary atlas in Logos - I have that already well covered with ESV and NIV Atlas products to name just two - for me I was just as interested in reading the content as I was in the maps.  If you are wanting an atlas first and foremost Vyrso format is not the platform of choice - stick to a full logos edition when you purchase an Atlas.

As I said at the start I don't see it as a major horror story in the way the maps are cut up - inconvenient yes.  Take the screen shot of the first set from some of the first maps below.  Look at the fist map which I have labeled A.  It has sections 1 to 4 on the map which are exploded into the larger views in the next four images as show by the arrows.  Map A also joins to Map B and I was able to successfully join them with a quick copy and paste into my image software (Snag it) but you could do the same by copy and paste into MS Paint.  A minor size adjustment was required for the second image. You could just as easily copy and past the smaller components together to get a larger sized map.if you so desired.

So horror story - not really , inconvenient - yes, works with Biblical Facts - no (but being a Vyrso resource this is not expected), good for view maps on a mobile device - no, works ok on a desktop screen - yes.

I am glad it isn't as bad as it sounded. I am also very happy that the Olivetree version has very high quality maps in it.

I did consider getting it in OT recently when it went on sale - but I only use that as a secondary program for the odd resource I can't get in Logos and not likely to use OT for Atlas type work - I am happy enough with what I've got in the Vyrso version for my needs - but if Logos and Moody do one day get back to an arrangement that works for them both a full Logos version will be nice.

The purpose of have maps in Logos is so I can use them in Logos.  Yes I can cut and paste and piece them together in PowerPoint but I can't zoom in while I'm teaching.  In Bible Facts I can zoom in and out while I'm teaching.  If I was following along with the Map of David the Fugitive and a Bible I can't follow the cities one by one.   I like to use an atlas and the Bible side by side.  Also I can't use them in the ipad either.

No I agree you can't with this particular Atlas because it is not created as a Logos resource and didn't mean to imply otherwise. But there are other Atlases available in Logos format that you can do what you desire.  If this was the only Atlas available in Logos I would then be disappointed, but for what it is, it works for my needs. I'm sorry it doesn't work for you, and hope you have another Atlas you can use instead of this one.  If you are really not happy with the purchase you can contact Logos sales and return it.
