I would love to see a CP collection containing classic studies on messianic expectation. Suggestions welcome. Some works might include:

  • Paton J. Gloag, Messianic Prophecies (Edinburgh: T&T Clark, 1879)
  • Alfred Edersheim, Prophecy and History in Relation to the Messiah (London: Longmans, 1885)
  • Charles A. Briggs, Messianic Prophecy: The Prediction of the Fulfillment of Redemption through the Messiah (New York: Scribner, 1886)
  • Franz Delitzsch, Messianic Prophecies in Historical Succession, trans. S. I. Curtiss (New York: Scribner, 1891)
  • Edward Rhiem, Messianic Prophecy: Its Origin, Historical Growth, and Relation to New Testament Fulfillment, trans. L. A. Muirhead, 2nd. ed. (Edinburgh: T&T Clark, 1891)
  • G. S. Goodspeed, Israel's Messianic Hope to the Time of Jesus (New York: MacMillan, 1900)
  • A. F. Kirkpatrick, The Doctrine of the Prophets, 3rd ed. (London: Macmillan, 1901)
  • Willis J. Beecher, The Prophets and the Promise (New York: Thomas Y. Crowell, 1905)
  • W. O. E. Oesterley, The Evolution of The Messianic Idea: A Study In Comparative Religion (London: Pitman & Sons, 1908)
