Confirm Logos 2.0 Installation

I just purchased Logos 2.0 Level 4 and The Oxford Bible Commentary (also 2.0 I believe).  I have researched on the forums, but I wanted to make sure I understand.

I should be able to install the floppies on my computer through an XP virtual machine, and then install the resources.  I would then be able to install 3.0, log into my account, and sync the licenses.

Would this then trigger the download of the resources to Logos 5?

Does Logos have all of the old resources, particularly the Oxford Commentary, BAGD, and the Jerome Commentary on their servers, or do I have to manually move the files?

If I have to manually move the files, do I just move the files from the L3 resource location into the Logos 5 resource location?

If they have unlock codes just phone Logos up and they will unlock them for you, If they are really old and do not have unlock codes Logos will require a purchase invoice proving they have been brought new (i.e. no one lese has used them) to unlock them.

The 2.0 versions don't have unlock codes, but there is a particular order in which you have to install the resources in order for them to work in Logos 5.  I know that some here have had to go through the process, and I just wanted to verify the process.

After you install it on your virtual xp side, you need to copy over the license file (cant recall it top of my head, but its like logos.ldb or something,  (thats not right), but I can prob find it later.).

You need to email that file to sales/tech support then they can add it.  Libronix used to read them and sync but that seems to have stopped a long time ago.  I have done this at least twice, its a pain, but you save a lot of money.

I emailed pictures of every disk, and document inside the box, a screen shot of the listing (amazon in my case, ebay in yours?), and a plea to unlock them in my account; and they did.

Ok, thanks!  I will probably just call in and ask them what they need.  That way I can just email them what they need while they are on the phone.  I might actually send Dave Kaplan a heads up to see if he could do it and what he would need.

Are all of the files on Logos' servers now for download?

for L2 level 3 they were. The customer service rep was resistant to helping until I explained I have a 64 bit computer, with no floppy drive.

I am pleased to announce that I have received a brand new Oxford Bible Commentary in Logos 2.1 format, along with Logos 2.0 Level 4, with the original box, paperwork, 2 floppies, and a CD.

I installed both on my XP Pro Virtual machine, which actually runs on a 64bit Windows 8.1 system.  I then installed L3 form this link.  I installed my regular licenses from a backup, and it seemed like some of the books didn't get automatically picked up from 2.0, so I took the license backup that I did from 2.0 and restored that in L3 as well.  I synced the licenses and L5 downloaded the additional resources from the Logos servers (I didn't have to move any files), which included BAGD, The Oxford Bible Commentary, and The Jerome Bible Commentary.

    I am happy!  [:D]

    I am happy!  Big Smile

And you should be. Until you mentioned it I never thought of getting "outdated" resources from Logos 2.0 to use in links.  It is a great idea.

Yes, I had wanted those three resources for some time, but Logos no longer sells them.  I wanted BAGD simply to have all of the resource links to it work.  I bought the Oxford CD, the Logos Level 4 library, and a USB floppy disc drive for less than I could have purchased those three books in paper!

Here are the resources that I did not own that were available on the Logos servers:

    Hi Joseph,

when you synced your licenses in L3, did all of your L5 resources also download into it? Or could you sync your license with just your L2 resources updated to Logos 3?

I didn't spend much time looking at it, as my end goal was to get the resources to download into L5, so I wasn't trying to get them in L3.  With that said, I am pretty sure that the majority of the resources WERE NOT available to download into L3.  I could open the L2 resources that L3 brought over except BAGD, which for some reason only showed as a blank page.  It did however download correctly into L5.  There were some resources available for download, but not a majority.  I had lost the resource update direct link, so it is possible that might have helped.
