How is it that neither Vryso nor Logos have anything by Henri Nouwen? Nothing, nada, bupkis?  Really?

And how is it that only Vryso has two books by Richard J Foster, and neither of them is "Celebration of Discipline"?  Please add!

Yes

People have been asking for Henri Nouwen for years now. Maybe there is some issue with getting the rights to publish his works. Please, Logos, work on this. He's a crucial author! Plenty of his books are available for Kindle, so they have got to be Vyrso-able. Granted, some of them are published through HarperCollins (mostly their imprint HarperOne) which I don't think you have a relationship with (yet), but you ought to work on that too. Even though they are a secular publisher, they have so many books of Christian interest.

Image is another publisher of many of Nouwen's books, and that is a must to get into the Logos/Vyrso stable. A good Catholic publisher, many works of broad ecumenical interest: Mother Teresa, Murray Bodo, St. Augustine, Pope Francis, Teresa of Ávila, G.K. Chesterton, Joan Chittister, Frederick Copleston's History of Philosophy, Dorothy Day, Teilhard de Chardin, Francis de Sales, Esther de Waal, Harold Fickett, Michael Ford, David Noel Freedman, Joseph Girzone, Scott Hahn, Thich Nhat Hanh, Luke Timothy Johnson, Thomas à Kempis, Hans Kung, Helen M. Luke, Alister McGrath, Thomas Merton, Richard John Neuhaus, John Henry Newman, Michael Novak, Basil Pennington, Pope Benedict XVI (also published as Joseph Ratzinger), Pope John Paul II, Pope John XXIII, Ronald Rolheiser, Fulton Sheen, Margaret Silf, John Michael Talbot, Phyllis Tickle, Desmond Tutu, Evelyn Underhill, Gary Wills, Walter Wink, Philip Yancey, ....

Thomas Nelson has also published one of Nouwen's works, and you do have a relationship with them already, so perhaps you could start with this one:

Pastor Kay:

Logos must be able to reach agreements with publishers. That isn't always easy, even when both party's "want" to make a deal.

My long time observations of Logos/Vyrso is that they like to publish anything they can get their hands on. The fact they don't yet have Nouwen tells me they either have not thought of Nouwen, had not yet gotten around to Nouwen or have a snag in securing rights to Nouwen. I seriously doubt they have Nouwen blacklisted.

Not likely, since he's been the subject of a number of threads requesting his works:

And now this one.

Most likely it's a rights issue. I hope they get that worked out since I would immediately buy up any and all Nouwen books they produce. I have about a dozen of them in print already and have read several of them but have shifted over to doing most of my reading in digital format these days.

I agree that reason is not likely. (Although Logos has shown the ability to ignore many threads...) I included the possibility to be complete in my listing of potential reasons.

My response was not meant to negate your post, but was merely an excuse to post the links to those other threads, in case anyone wanted to see them. Some of them list titles, and it might draw more attention to them in case they were overlooked.

I appreciate your sensitivity and consideration. Thanks for your post.

I also agree with Pastor Kay's request for Richard Foster's works.

Yes, me too! I think he's been requested almost as often as Nouwen. And for completeness, here are those threads:

I too have often expressed that I would love to have these available. But, if this ever happens, I would much prefer to have it in Logos rather than Vyrso.

Ahh... But I would prefer it to be in Vyrso, and then very soon after move to Logos. Smile

Either way, it'd be nice to see some movement on this.

Henri Nouwen is always worth a bump. Has anyone created a UserVoice suggestion for his works? I only see this one. Perhaps we need a suggestion for his complete works.
