SUGGESTION: T Muraoka's Greek-English Lexicon of the Septuagint

Greek-English Lexicon of the Septuagint
This is Prof Muraoka's recent opus. It is a critical reference for Koine Greek and Septuagintal studies. Could we have this on Logos please.

I would only buy it for about half that price.

That's your choice. Naturally your expertise and valuation are recognized the world over. But I think if you had only 1% of his humility and knowledge of the original languages, you'd be a better person and interpreter of the Scriptures.

Yes, the price is more than $100 but that's how these specialist titles are priced at. Typically the publisher sets these prices, not the author. But anyone in the field knows the importance of this work (maybe that's why the publisher is pushing the price up). I think this work is important enough that Logos should seriously negotiate for it.
If you don't like the book or find it of less value as a Logos resource, you could have kept your counsel instead of throwing your self-important spanner into the works.
I know how much I would pay for your book, if you could drug me to download it. No, Desitin doesn't cut it. [:)]

Now, now, Lee. Some things are best left unsaid.

Sorry if I sound irritated (which I am). I would have liked it more if someone piped in with something supportive of the suggestion. And even if unsupportive, reasons are always welcome.

I for one would like to have this in Logos ASAP.

I didn't say I didn't want it, just that I'm not going to buy it at that price. The way you talk, it wouldn't matter if it were $250, you'd still get it. That's fine. Pay even more if you like. But that kind of price is based on the idea that almost no one is going to buy it other than specialists. It's the same kind of pricing you see for Sheffield/T&T Clark resources and stuff that was published as PhD theses. Publishers of such stuff used to assume that a very tiny number of people and institutions would have interest in these specialist titles, but they knew that specialists HAD to have them because it is their job to engage and respond to these works. Thus, with a captive but rather small and limited audience assured, they milked and bilked them like the cash cows they are. I'm not a cash cow, and regardless of utility, I'm not going to get this at the hard copy list price. I have purchased quite a few S/T&T titles though. You know why? Because Logos managed to convince them that cheaper sales were better than no sales at all. Their prices for bundles of 6-12 titles are often less than just one or two by themselves. When the value is there, I buy...otherwise I don't. This gets offered for about half (which would still be steep for a single book), then I will pony up.
I bet you were all about paying $90 for Witherington, right?

I interpreted that to be a snarky remark unsupportive of the suggestion, meant to throw a spanner into the works. If I was wrong in that, I apologise.

Actually I did not participate in that bid at all. I don't see how Witherington's resource is relevant. Did I go around that post, or any of your posts, saying that something you like is probably worth a lot less? If I did, please correct me and accept my apologies.

Lee, it has been suggested for years now. No response. I assume the publisher isn't wanting to play nice with Logos.

Thanks very much for the heads up. If the unwillingness lies at the publisher's end, as a service to the community I could ask the author to smooth things out.

Lee, this is a great suggestion, and thanks for the offer to talk to the author. If you have that kind of access, and it moves ahead, that would benefit a lot of Septuagint readers!
