HI all let me first say Im loving L4 Mac side and Windows side! I did an update resources this morning and now every time I open L4 it indexes. Can someone please help me with this issue? I have attached my logs.
5460.Archive.zip
Mine has been doing something similar. It has supposedly been indexing for 3 days now.
Jerry,
The indexer does more than just index, it checks for updates and downloads them. Every time you log in, the indexer will run and check for updates, as well as when you start the app. But from your logs, it appears that the indexer is running for about 2 seconds, checking for updates, then shutting down.
I would recommend running "Update resources" one more time just to make sure you've got all the latest updates to the resources.
Matthew,
If you post your log files we can take a look at them and hopefully figure out what is going on. See the first link in my signature for info on how to post your log files.

Tom thanks for your help but its still happing and it is indexing for more then 2 seconds. I've did the updates resources again but nothing happened. But thanks for your help, I don't know what the problem is??
Check the first link in my signature and make sure you replace your nlog.config with the one Joe Miller posted in his tutorial. (you'll need to remove the :550.0] from the end of the link in your browser). If you did this correctly then when you restart the Indexer.log, your output should look something like the following:
12/31/2009 09:46:13 | INFO | 1 | UserManager | Opening UserManager in /Users/thomas/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Users. 12/31/2009 09:46:15 | INFO | 1 | LocalFileDatabase | Found existing database at /Users/thomas/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Users/UserManager.db 12/31/2009 09:46:15 | INFO | 1 | LogosIndexerWorker | Starting application (version 4.2.3.4752). ...
Then if you would post your logs again, I'll take another look.
Tom
Tom thanks I checked and it did not have :550.5 in it so I think I did it right the first time but let me know if Im still wrong... Here it is again. And while I was on the internet and had L4 opened it just crashed twice.... Thanks Tom

Im still having the same problem with no answers. I've posted logs as I was asked to do, but no one has giving me any answers for my problem and I need to know what I have to do? EVERY-TIME I turn on my computer L4 indexes and then again when I open the program. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
JERRY

Sorry for the delay. I think I read your posts late this week after I got home and intended to get back to them once I got in the next day. My apologizes.
The problem in your logs seems to be some documents that were sync'd from a Windows PC. I'm going to look into your issue, but I don't think there's anything you can do on your side. I'll let you know after I have a chance to talk with some of the other devs.
Can you start Logos 4 and run the "Rebuild Index" command? This should clean up the issue.
"Rebuild Index"
Ok.... is it gone take all night?
And Tom do I put the" " in front and behind Rebuild Index? And are you suggesting doing it on the Mac are the PC side? Im confused about what side you want me to rebuild index?
do I put the" " in front and behind Rebuild Index?
No, do not put quotes around the command. If you do that L4 will search for a phrase. On the Mac you must select the command from the drop down list and wait for the Indexer to start (could be several seconds)
And are you suggesting doing it on the Mac are the PC side? Im confused about what side you want me to rebuild index?
Jerry
I believe that would depend on which side is causing you problems.
Jack, you beat me to the answer.
Jerry, I suggest you run the command on the Mac.
After speaking with another developer about your error, it turns out you're experiencing a difficult to reproduce bug that he's been trying to track down. My comment about "Documents" was in error it seems, because although the Indexer code in question mentions "Documents" it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with sync'd documents (i.e. Notes, Reading Plans, etc). Rebuilding your index fully *should* resolve the problem.
An yes, it might take all night depending on your library size.
Well I've tried EVERYTHING and its not working I've put rebuild index and left the computer and nothing is happing so im stuck I don't know what to do?
Can you post your Indexer log for me one more time?
Sure Tom here they are.

OK, one more thing to try. Open Library/Application Supoort/Logos4/Data/<your_user_id>/LibraryIndex and delete all the files you find in there. Restart Logos and the index should rebuild.

Can you grab the nlog.config from the FAQ thread? See #1 under the video from the first link in my signature. There's really not a lot of debugging information to go on here. Once you have the logging setup, please post your Indexer and Logos4.log again.
The link is actually in this account. That's what I get for doing forum support from home...
Here you go Tom see if this works.... I remember something about taking the 550.0 out so Im doing that I hope this is the right way?

Still no debugging information. Try this. Open your ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Logging/nlog.config file in a text editor, and replace it's contents with the following. Save the file and then restart Logos4.
<nlog xmlns="http://www.nlog-project.org/schemas/NLog.xsd" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" ><targets> <target name="console" xsi:type="Console" error="true" layout="${date} | ${level:uppercase=true:padding=5} | ${threadid} | ${logger:padding=15} | ${message} "/></targets><rules> <logger name="GrammarPathLogger" minlevel="Warn" writeTo="console" final="true" /> <logger name="StandardDataType" minlevel="Warn" writeTo="console" final="true" /> <logger name="DataTypeManager" minlevel="Warn" writeTo="console" final="true" /> <logger name="*" minlevel="Debug" writeTo="console"/></rules> </nlog>
I did just what you told me to do and it seems to be doing the same exact thing?? I don't know what in the world to do!!!!
I should have mentioned that my last post would't fix the problem, it would just give me more debugging info to figure out what's going on.
Here's one more thing to try: Delete all the files in ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<your_user_id>/BibleIndex and in ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<your_user_id>/LibraryIndex and restart Logos.
If you're still having problems, please post your logs again. You can tell if you've set up the nlog.config correctly if your Indexer.log has messages like the following:
