How do i know what Logos 4 is doing and at what point in the process the program is at? It seems to be doing nothing?
Hi there! I'm a newbie too and slowly figuring things out as I go along. Have you already read through the FAQ thread? http://community.logos.com/forums/t/6747.aspx It's answered a bunch of a question I had. Depending on exactly where you are, you should be seeing at least a little blue Logos logo in the menu bar at the top right of your screen. If you hold the cursor over that for a few seconds, it should provide some more info as to your current status. Download and indexing times will vary depending on exactly which product you've purchased. Hope that helps a bit!
Robert has given you some good advice, and there is not much to add. The blue icon he mentioned will give you an estimate of time remaining to the completion of indexing. Don't expect this estimate to be accurate. It can sometimes vary wildly, so just consider it to be an indication that the indexer is working. This will take some times as it is indexing every word of every resource in your library.
Please be aware of the fact that this is Alpha software. It is missing features, it is buggy, it may crash or freeze unexpectedly. However, if you are willing to experiment, to submit bug reports, and to post your logs, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have contributed to the development of L4 Mac.
Welcome.
Thanks, but I do not have the Blue L4 icon in the top tray, that seems to be the indicator as to whether things are happening.
did you already download the dmg file and installed the software?
just after that, as soon as you open Logos 4 Mac, the blue icon should appear in the menu bar, if you hover over it it should say something like "downloading resources X% of XGB" (depending on the base package you purchased) this will tike some time as we are talking about a few GB...
then the blue icon should disappear, and then appear again. if you hover over it it will say "Indexing... estimated time... XXX minutes." As jack said earlier, this will take some time too, again, depending on your package....
Hope this helps
Thanks for the reply. I purchased then downloaded the .dmg, then installed and began the download process, all was working fine. Then the power went out long enough to shut the computer off. Called Logos they recommend, uninstall everything and back up to the .dmg stage. i did not re-download the .dmg, but used the one that I have already. Upon reinstalling, I lost the blue L4 logo and when I open L4 the home page opens, but there is nothing to look at or do, there are not books, and there is no way to manually tell it to update, at least that I could find.
Thanks for any help.
Try typing "Update Resources" into the command bar (by the magnifying glass). Wait a couple of minutes and see in the indexer Icon appears to download the rest of your resources.
