More options in preferences

Selecting Text: In L6, when I start selecting words with the mouse, if you start at the end of a verse (last character, a period, a quote, an asterisk) and move leftward, the whole verse is highlighted.

Often, the whole selecting text response is trigger happy (what's the phrase, too sensitive) So often whole verses or two verses get selected. I would like Logos to be less responsive like L5. Have a preference we can turn off.

It sounds like you are describing "Smart Text Selection." There is an option already in the preferences to turn this off (in the Text Display section).

Thanks - that did it. Is this new to L6? If not then I didn't know about it because I never saw the program be so sensitive until now. I looked at the preferences but didn't see it, went too fast I guess.

It was introduced in 5.2 but the download over the weekend added support for this feature to a much larger range of resources than before.

Strange highlighting behavior - I want to select a single word I am getting a lot of highlighting whole verses (even with smart text selection turned off)
And now strange text input behavior.

There are many notes of mine from reading the MSG four years ago. I made the mistake (in my mind) to tie the note to a highlighted word in the MSG rather than for the verse in general. I have edited these things before - but now that 6 came out very strange things are happening.

    1) I create a new note linked to the verse so it will show up in any translation. I select all, cut and paste that those words into the new window. Sometimes I forgot to capitalize the first letter of the first word. If I click to the right of the letter, backspace delete and enter the capital letter, the new letter shows up on the second line of the window i.e. the second line of the note.

My only solution is to go two or three letters into the first word, Retype new letters then delete. For example whenever becomes whWhenever and finally Whenever. This has happened a dozen times.

I cannot reproduce this behavior. I have created and edited quite a few notes in L6 beta and now the release version of L6 and have not run into this.

Are you using a PC or a Mac? I use a PC. I know there have been some issues that are just Mac only but I don't know if this might be one of them.

Just so you know, there's a better way of fixing this in L6. That's because L6 allows you to attach a note to multiple anchor points. So you can attach your existing note to the verse, then detach it from your highlighting. You won't have to re-create the note.

    To do so:

    1. Hover over the note, and click the down arrow and choose Edit attachment points.
    2. Enter the Bible reference in the box, press Enter.
    3. Remove the original attachment point (which will be immediately above the one you just made) by clicking on the X.
    4. Click Done.

    Mark S. Windows

    Mark B. It worked thanks.

Since you guys are the multithousand posts experts, why is it when I type "delete duplicate notes" in the command window in 6, only the option to search for that phrase comes up not execute that command as it did in 5.

Not sure why, but I have dozens, perhaps hundreds of duplicate notes and wanted to take care of them that way.

I don't recall that specific command. At one point we had Remove Duplicate Notes (in L4 and L5) which cleaned up duplicated notes. That command is not in Logos 6.

The "remove duplicate notes" command was removed from the application. It was a support tool that was used to clean up duplicates notes caused by a sync bug back around 4.2a. This command would not have removed manually created duplicate notes.
