Alan Bester: is there anyway to download the correct logos4.msi file directly? i.e. without using the logos4setup.exe downloader as this seems to be where the problem is.

That's the frustrating part, you can't grab it from the server and the Setup program is supposed to do this anyway.
Just keep trying and send an email to Logos technical support quoting this forum thread. Sorry!

Dave Hooton: Everybody, What are the dates of the various files in- \Logos4\Data\{random}\UpdateManager\Installers\ and \Logos4\Install\ Do you have a more than 1 {random} file under \Logos4\Data\?
Everybody,
What are the dates of the various files in-
\Logos4\Data\{random}\UpdateManager\Installers\
and
\Logos4\Install\
Do you have a more than 1 {random} file under \Logos4\Data\?
Hi Dave,
I'm having the same problem although I live in the Czech Republic... L4 tries to download 1 Gb of updates evertime I open it. After a chrash (my old hard disk died) I reinstalled L4 from a backup in an external disk (method 2 in the wiki) and I'm having these problems. And yes, I have two {random} files under \Logos4\Data\ What can I do? To download and reindex L4 takes about 24 hours in my old computer, so I'd like to ovoid it.
Thanks for your help in advance

As you have several resource folders determine which has the latest set of files (Date modified in Explorer) and keep that safe eg. removable drive. Then totally uninstall L4:
Use Method 3 this time at http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers
It will be a better installation even though you have to index (it does avoid downloads).
PS. You might want to delete your second post as its a duplicate (click the More button)
Thanks Dave,
I wanted to avoid thr reindex process, but as a Spanish saying goes "what is impossible is not posible" . Thanks anyway.
I tried to delete my second post but I don't know how to do it. In "Other options" there is nothing similar to delete.. Help, please!!
Thanks again

It should in the More button next to Reply unless the time limit has expired!
Thanks Dave
All I can think of is that there may be some kind of local SA cache and becuase the names are identical it simply downloads the old version - just guessing here.
Perhaps I'll just need to wait for another update and hopefully that will download properly.

I don't think we tried all of these files, so try:-
Enable hidden files and folders in Explorer's "Folder Options".
Go to \Logos4\Data\{random}\UpdateManager\Installers\ and delete all sub-folders and files.
Go to \Logos4\Data\{random}\UpdateManager\ and delete Updates.db
Go to \Logos4\Data\{random}\DownloadManager\ and delete DownloadManager.db.
Go to \Logos4\Install\Installers\ and rename Logos4.msi.
Then install the L4 update from the web link.
WOOT!! It worked! Thanks Dave, you're a genius!!
