What would it take for Logos to offer a preferences option for

1. Installing and specifying where the logos indexes are located

2. Installing and specifying where the logos resource databases are located.

These are common capabilities for applications with catalogs, indexes, databases etc. Adobe products such as lightroom provide this to the user for performance, organization and flexibility reasons.

I know you can accomplish this with symbolic links etc. So I don't need that type of response.

Thankyou.

Do suggestions of this nature receive any acknowledgement like understood, not understood, under advisement, rejected, etc in this forum section by Logos Technical Staff?

Thanks

There is no official response system to suggestions.  Sometimes you will get a response, sometimes you won't.  the general attitude of Logos to giving expanded user choice is negative as they see more choice for users leads to increased support costs.  Keep the choices lean and it is easier for them to train support staff and diagnose problems.  This though is just a general observation and not a definitive response to your suggestion.  O ly Logos can do that if they choose to answer.  Personally I would love more choice on this and am in agree an e with your idea.

Logos/Faithlife staff do not generally respond either yea or nay to any suggestions on this forum. The suggestions are collected and taken into consideration internally based on all kinds of factors such as how many users have requested that feature, how high the popularity of that feature is on the Logos UserVoice forum (a place where you can vote for feature requests), what other work they have planned which might be more important, how difficult to implement the new suggestions are (and whether they compete with other planned features), and so on.

There is sometimes feedback from Logos/Faithlife on UserVoice when they agree to do a feature and have it started for an upcoming release, but more and more they are reluctant to do that because it amounts to a promise which they can't always follow through on, and users can get angry about that. So they usually prefer to keep it all a mystery and a surprise what features are going to be implemented in the next or future releases. We usually end up being pretty happy about what they choose to do. It'll never be enough for everyone, but they have a finite team and finite amount of time to do everything we'd like them to do.

If you are particularly passionate about this installation flexibility, check and see if anyone else has proposed it on UserVoice, and if not, add it yourself and apply the maximum number of votes you can (3) and drum up enthusiasm from other users here on the forums to vote for it. That's the best shot you have of getting it paid attention to.
