Confused by different search results
I did a basic Bible search in the 1900 KJV with <Lemma = lbs/el/καί> and came up with 9272 in 5225 verses. When doing a Bible Word Study on the same lemma I get 5641 hits in the "Lemma" section and 5163 hits in the "Translation" section. Is this an error in Logos or are these different numbers indication different things? Thanks!

The BWS Translation is reporting verses and not hits but it still varies from search results. I don't know what the Lemma section is doing! Even if I look at a word with fewer occurrences - τίς - I can't work it out (esp. Lemma section).
We need Faithlife to comment.

It reports the count of verses that have a translation. Untranslated instances of the word are not counted in this section.

I'm investigating this.

It's (incorrectly) double-counting some verses. This will be fixed in an upcoming release.
I'm also not certain that that's the most useful thing it could be doing, so I've opened another case to inquire whether it should show the number of instances not just the number of verses.

I certainly hope the decision will be made to count the instances rather than just verses in future revisions of the software.

I can confirm that the Logos 6 is reporting verses not instances. Here is how to see this. I searched on the lemma for "worry" in Matt 6:25 using NIV. In Logos 5, the results showed 19 hits. In Logos 6 it now shows 17 hits. Yet a perusal of the results reveals 19 hits because two verses (Mt 6:34 & 1 Cor 7:34) each have two. "Worry" occurs 12, not 11 times and "concern" occurs 6 not 5 times. ("Anxious" is accurately reported.)
To add to the confusion, when you click on the graph to get the distribution of the term, it does not show 17 (as the chart claims), but 19 times (7 + 5 + 5 + 2). This is very confusing behavior.

I did a BWS for ὅτι in the ESV and the Distribution Bar indicated 1105 verses(?). I then changed the Setting to do the same thing in the LEB and got 1037, NIV(2011) and got 840, and last I did the same thing in the NASB and 1004 verses. I am very confused. I searched for the lemma in the NA27 and got 1296 hits in 1187 verses, which matches none of the above! Please help me as I have been telling people that a certain word is used only x amount of times in the NT, based on the number in the Distribution Bar, but that may not be true.

Thanks for the reminder, John. There is much confusion over "hits" in BWS and Faithlife have not responded.
Basically, it is reporting verses but the number is probably incorrect. If things get back to normal there will usually be a discrepancy between a reverse interlinear bible (ESV, NASB, LEB) and a Greek bible (NA27, SBLGNT) because some instances in the Greek (or Hebrew) are not translated. ὅτι is unfortunate in that the BWS for ESV shows it is translated as " and ' a number of times when it is a non-translation!!

This should be properly displaying instances instead of verses, in 6.2 RC 1.

I just downloaded 6.2 (final release version, not the release candidate) and can confirm the problem addressed in my post has been fixed. [:)]
Thanks.
