Question: when you have done something wrong to a person, who do you go to first to ask for forgivenes, God or the person?

when you answer can you give Scripture to support your position.

Thanks

While I haven't gone to scripture, the pragmatist in me says that you can talk to God NOW, while it may be some time before you can speak to the individual (IE if a deep enough offense this could take years, or else they may have a dead battery on their phone, or other technological, or geographic considerations).

I think it is recommended that you go and discuss this with the members of www.christiandiscourse.com because we're not supposed to discuss doctrinal matters or anything unrelated to the software.

You could try a Logos search across all resources for Sin NEAR forgiveness NEAR God NEAR person.  Or you could try looking up the topic of forgiveness in the Factbook.  Or you could try a Scripture search for "forgiveness".  And I'm sure if I was certain I knew what a lemma was, I'd advise that you search for the Greek and Hebrew lemmas of the word "forgive" in those languages via a Bible Word Search...  But I might be wrong about that so somebody else should answer...

You might consider running a passage guide on Matthew 5:21-26.

I am adding this to my Logos notes,

Pray before confession, during confession, and after confession. Then pray for your prayers - 1 Thess 5:17 - all the time trusting the Spirit to correct the weaknesses of your confession  (Rom 8:26-28).

Yours In Christ
