The Android team is pleased to announce the 4.5.0 beta release of the Bible, Biblia, FSB, Noet, Verbum and Vyrso apps.

If you have not yet signed up for the beta (or if you have not yet switched to downloading the betas via the Google Play store), we encourage you to do so! Instructions are here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/59519.aspx

If you are already signed up for the beta via Google Play, you will automatically receive the beta update over the next few hours. If your device does not provide access to the Google Play store (e.g. the Kindle Fire), you may manually download the latest APK using the direct download links at the bottom of this page: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/59519.aspx

If you discover any issues please create a new post and include the following info:

  • Description – How were you using the app when the problem occurred.
  • App Info – Which app you are using. (Bible, Biblia, Faithlife Study Bible, Noet, Verbum or Vyrso)
  • Device Info – (Nexus 7, Motorola Triumph, Droid Bionic, Kindle Fire (1st gen))
  • Android Version – (4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 5.0)

Included are the necessary beta download and Google Play beta tester opt-in links. The Google Play beta opt-in links are only accessible if you have previously been accepted to the Logos Android Beta Users Google+ community

Important Notes

  • This beta requires Android 4.0 or higher.
  • This beta includes Faithlife account integration with the Android system providing single sign in across Reader Suite apps. Single sign in support for our other Android apps (Faithlife Mobile, Every Day Bible) is planned for the future, but not available yet.
  • There are several new permissions added in this release, all related to single sign in. Note that adding new permissions prevents automatic updates from Google Play; you must explicitly accept the new permission changes to receive this update.

    Kevin,

I appreciate the work on the S pen.

One of the things I would like to see the S pen do is when I hover it over a note icon or any footnote indicator, have a temporary popup window appear with the first few lines of the note/footnote contents ... just a quick peek inside, if that makes sense, similar to hovering over a Scripture reference.

Just a thought ... I am not a code writer but this doesn't seem like it would require any big effort.  Thnx.

Instead of Artificial Intelligence, I prefer to continue to rely on Divine Intelligence instructing my Natural Dullness (Ps 32:8, John 16:13a)

In Logos 6 (PC) I created a Bible reference note attached to Nehemiah 8:1 a few days ago and updated it over the last couple of days.

I go to the Bible app on my Android tablet this morning and the note isn't there (Biblia 4.5.0 Build 405).  I also noticed that other notes I created and/or renamed over the last couple of days have not synced.  There was plenty of time for the syncing by logos 6 PC and my tablet, I even forced it on both, but it acts like Documents are not syncing from my Logos 6 PC to My Android Tablet Bible app.

If you install the non-beta 4.4.7 version of a different app (say, Verbum), do your notes sync?

Just by way of suggesting...it would be a huge help if when switching from one Bible Passage to another, a pop up window can appear as it does in Olive Tree. At the moment, when I want to switch passages, I have to tap at the top that shows a menu that completely covers the passage I am currently reading.  But if I am preaching, for example, I would prefer to have a pop up come up without covering completely over the passage I was originally on.  I dont know if this is being explained well, but if you notice how it is done with the Olive Tree app, you probably would see the difference.  For me, this small change would be a huge help to the logos android app.

    Hi Kevin,

I also already had the FSB app installed (beta 4.5.0 Build 405) and it had the same problem as the Bible app, even today.

If you install the non-beta 4.4.7 version of a different app (say, Verbum), do your notes sync?

I installed Verbum 4.4.7 Build 348 tonight.  Completed default downloads.  Navigated around to give the system time to sync.  Went to library and it downloaded my list of resources.  After a half hour of this, still none of my documents/notes downloaded and no markers on Nehemiah 8:1 (or anywhere else).

I created a reference note on Nehemiah 8:1 in RSV, Catholic Edition in Verbum.  Its marker showed up in RSV and NASB in Verbum.  I went to logos 6 on my PC and waited for it to sync from Verbum.  Instead of getting the note, Logos 6 got the message "An error occurred during synchronization, click to try again".  Retries made no difference.  I closed Logos 6 and saved the Log files (attached; Logs-1).

After saving the log files, I restarted logos 6 on my PC and it synced okay, but the note marker from Verbum still did not show up in  L6. I closed L6 and saved that set of log files (attached; Logs-2).

I rechecked my tablet - checked Verbum, no notes from L6.  I then went to "Home" (found that sometimes triggers a download).  Then I went back to Nehemiah 8:1, got the buffering circle and wella - the some of my notes from L6 showed up (2 of 3 for that verse).  I checked the list of Documents in Verbum and it looks like they are mostly, if not all there (I have over 400 notes).

I restarted L6 and checked for the note marker on Nehemiah 8:1 from Verbum - still not received from Verbum.  I checked my Documents in L6 and the new note file I created in Verbum was there ("test from Verbum"), with the reference note to Nehemiah 8:1 in it, but the marker is still not visible in Nehemiah 8:1.  No L6 sync error message.

Sorry these notes are a bit haphazard.  Hope they help.  Looks like a weird sync problem.

If you need log files from any of the Android apps, please remind me how to do that.

    Thank you.

I also already had the FSB app installed (beta 4.5.0 Build 405) and it had the same problem as the Bible app, even today.

    Tim,

Please sign into documents.logos.com with your account and check if the notes you refer to are present there.  If they are not present this is most likely an issue with the Logos 6 Desktop Beta not syncing up properly.  If they are present, it's an issue with the Android Beta not syncing down properly.

Since you are running the latest beta software on both Desktop and Mobile it might take a bit for us to figure out where the problem is, but if you let us know if your notes are present on documents.logos.com it would help a lot.

    Hi Kevin,

Yes the note files are there - both new note files I created in the last few days and the date was updated with existing note files that I recently added notes to.  I even created a new note file just now in L6 and it showed up on documents.logos.com right away.

Thanks, there's definitely a problem with 4.5.0 beta note syncing and we've already been looking at it this afternoon.  We hope to get this fixed in the next beta.

    Cool.  Thank you Kevin.

Please revert back to using the stable 4.4.7 version for your notes until we resolve this issue.

Android Suite 4.5.0 Beta 2 Release

    Notes should now sync properly

Most notes are syncing again (thank you), but I found an exception.  A note on Nehemiah 8:1 did sync from L6 to Android Bible, but a note attached to Nehemiah 8 (the chapter, not a verse) did not sync from L6 to Android Bible.

In L6, I edited the attachment points to the note on the chapter and added 8:1 as a reference and then it did sync to Android Bible.  Then I removed the 8:1 reference to the note and the note disappeared from Android Bible.

Almost there.  Thank you for your help.

This might have been a leftover issue from the previous beta and it's possible the note got "cleaned up" by using the new beta.  Please let me know if you see any new problems.

    Hi Kevin,

I think I figured out why the chapter reference notes didn't sync from L6 to the Android Bible.  I was using the Lexham High Definition Old Testament as the Android Bible.  I had the same experience with the LEB.  They act like they don't have chapter milestones.  However, the chapter reference notes did show up with NASB and ESVSB, which do seem to have chapter milestones.

It would be nice if this problem could be resolved - I use a lot of chapter reference notes and I would imagine a few other people might also.

Could other functions besides notes be affected by this situation (unable to find chapter milestones/divisions)?

I just opening this beta on my Nexus 9 and my highlights that I put in a note file are not syncing to my Android tablet.

    UPDATE

This is only happening in the Vyrso app. It's working normally in the logos Bible app.
