Create and copy a verse list

I am trying to copy a list of verses into Word easily (instead of using the right-click/additional actions for each passage which can take quite a while for a long list of verses). I have searched for things like "export verse list" or "create verse list" or "copy list of verses" etc and can't find anything on it. All I want is the text of these verses pasted into Word.

Here's a sample list:

Acts 2:36

Phil 2:11

2 Cor 4:5

Rom 10:9

1 Cor 12:3

Rom 14:9

1 Cor 7:10

1 Cor 12:25

1 Thess 4:15

Thanks for any help.

You could use the "Copy Bible Verses" tool

or put them into a Passage List and use the Print/Export function

Unless you need specific formatting I would probably go with the Passage List but either should do it,

Thanks. I forgot about the copy Bible verses. I had tried the passage list but it is doing some weird stuff and I don't like the format it kicks it out in.

I like the copy Bible verses because of the formatting. However, In copy Bible verses, if I cut and paste the list, it doesn't take it. It only takes it if I manually type in each reference. Is that normal? Should it take a pasted list?

It takes a pasted list of "horizontal" references - if you have a number of verses in the same line in a document.

If you have a column of references it just takes the first as far as I can see

One of the advantages of the Passage List approach is that if you are generating your list from a search then you can directly export to a PL (or you can export from the search window itself)

Any specifics about the "weird stuff" the Passage List is doing?

It won't take a horizontal list for me. Here's the list as it appears in the document (though I am not sure why it is posting here in a text box):

    John 20:28, Acts 2:36, Phil 2:11, 2 Cor 4:5, Rom 10:9, 1 Cor 12:3, Rom 14:9, 1 Cor 7:10, 1 Cor 12:25, 1 Thess 4:15,

When I paste it in the copy Bible verse dialog, the arrow shows up briefly and then disappears when I hit "Enter." Then it reverts to the previous verse (whatever had previously been in there). If I type it in manually, it works fine.

This is what the passage list was doing as well. A couple of times, I have gotten the passage list to work, but I don't know how or what I did. When I tried to recreate it, it wouldn't do it again.

Edited to add: In passage list, if I "Add clipboard" it works fine. That's how I got it to work apparently. But if I just ctrl-V in the reference box, it doesn't work. It just sits there

I restarted Logos this morning to install the update.

I've copied your list and when I paste it into the CBV dialog I get

it sounds as though the sequence of verses isn't appearing for you. Is that correct?

can you post a screenshot at this point in your process?

when I hit Enter the tool is correctly populated

And doing the same thing for the Passage List works correctly for me as well

I'm running the same Logos version on Windows 8.1 so unlikely to be a platform issue.

Okay ... I was looking at your screenshot and comparing it to mine and noticed yours didn't have the comma at the end. So I took the comma out after 1 Thess 4:15 and it started working right. I swear I had done that previously and it didn't work. But now it is. Apparently that comma at the end makes it not work.

Here's the weird (to me) thing. In the PL, if I paste the list in the reference box, I have to take the comma off the end verse for it to work. If I do it by "Add ... Clipboard" it works with the comma at the end.

Thanks for the time you took to help.

Interesting to know about the comma.

    Glad you have it working

    Hello all,

Here's a fun hack. If you have a vertical verse list, paste it into Excel. Put commas in Column B (except for the last cell). Select all of the Column A and B cells and paste into Copy Bible Verses. I was able to do 1,000 verses at a time with this.

Hey brother! I know this is two years old, but had a question.

First, using Excel was helpful! I was using Word (Google Docs) and had to put a comma after each verse!

My question is: How were you able to get the vertical list from Excel to Paste Horizontally in the Copy Bible Verses Tool?

I'm using Google Sheets, so not sure if that makes a difference. But copying a Column of Verses along side a column of commas does not paste into the Copy Bible Verse Tool!

My current workaround is after copying from Sheets, I paste it in the URL field and it reformats it horizonal, but would love to see if I can minimize the steps further.

I figured out how to get a list to become vertical, but adding the commas so it coordinates with the Copy Bible Verse tool is presenting a bit of a challenge

    Thanks for any feedback!

    Hello Mezz,

I'm glad this was helpful to you! I was able to get this to work in Sheets. I will post some screenshots below.
