[resolved] There has to be a better notification

There was a download and then I noticed (in Library) "Updating Library Catalog". So I'll wait until it goes away as there must have been a resource download with the software update. But it didn't go away and after 10 minutes I thought to do some exploring. There wasn't any indexing and then I flipped another window and saw "Update is ready to be installed"!

But why did the Catalog notification not go away?

Thanks for reporting this. It's a bug for the notification to remain visible. I've created a case.

This should no longer be an issue now that we're installing the update in the background.
