SUGGESTION: A Compilation of All Redactional Source Material (both OT & NT)

I would like for Logos to acquire a complete set of all the source materials used for producing the compilations we know as the books of the Bible. I'm not sure how many volumes such a set would include (surely someone else knows!...or is that ?). I'm sure all these notes and documents would make fascinating reading.

This should be moved to the front of the que! Garçon!!

What redactional source material are you referring to? Has any of it even survived in manuscript form? I thought redaction criticism was based on hypotheses of what source material must have existed. There are sources mentioned in the Scriptures (e.g., The Book of the Wars of the Lord mentioned in Num 21:14 and others), but nobody has ever found any extant copies of any of them, to my knowledge. JEDP is just a theory. Nobody has ever found any of those sources. In the NT there is evidence of non-canonical sources being quoted or alluded to, so perhaps you're talking about a collection of all that material? There wouldn't be much to make a compilation of.

I'd assumed he meant materials for the critical editions. There is a relatively new pericope studies association start to add ancient lectionaries into the mix of manuscripts.

That, of course, is my point. The fact that there isn't one shred of skin or papyrus that contains this supposed "source" material is about as solid a case for calling "BOGUS" as is possible.

Critical editions of what? What exists in terms of "redactional source material" (whatever that is) that there could be critical editions of? You both are apparently talking about something specific without explaining what it is to people who don't know what you're talking about, and I still don't know what it is. As I understand it, Logos only offers the redactional material (ergo many denomination's appeal to the missing material for divine inspiration).

The product this group is putting out looks very interesting and promising...but for crying out loud: WHY BRILL???? They are without a doubt the most expensive publisher I know of. I'm not even sure if it's worth asking for a Logos version of this as I doubt I would ever justify affording it.

After further review, I see that the English version is published by Eisenbrauns. As such, this link will probably cease to work within the next 24 hours, per their bizarre practice of having rolling web addresses for their products. [:S] While I would be inclined to say Eisenbrauns is an improvement over Brill, it isn't all sweet and light. First, the prices are still rather stiff. Also, I have been pleading for Logos to pick up the Siphrut series published by Eisenbrauns (which, due to the recent PrePub offering of TDOT, is now my undisputed "most desired" resource for Logos acquisition) for quite some time and except for the extremely odd offering of just a single book from the series there has seemed to be little in the way of PrePub progress.

Ah! I see they have added a few titles to the Siphrut series, now with 50% more titles (18 total)! I will choose to see the glass half full and hope that the reason so little has transpired is because the negotiations were on hold until the series filled out. Now, kindly....ADD IT TO PREPUB!!!! Thank you. [:)]
