[ACK]Pasting text in Mac won't add reference.
So when using the Windows version of Logos 6 (and prior versions) you can select a chunk of text and paste it into a word processor or OneNote and it will automatically add in the reference material.
This doesn't work on Mac. Is there something I need to do to enable this feature or is this feature simply missing for the Mac version? If it is missing, any word on if it will be added?

How much text are you pasting?
It needs to be ten words or more for the citation information to appear

More than ten words.

OneNote is the primary app I'm using. However I have also tried Pages, Mail, and the Chrome web browser.
The only time pasting works proper (by automatically adding a reference) is when I paste into a Logos 6 note file.

Dumb question ... Is "Copy Citations" set to Yes in Program Settings?

Yes.

OK ... Yes, that was a dumb question ...
I am using Windows and OneNote but I can confirm that other the name of the resource no other reference materials are being copied over. Copying in to MS Word gives all references. OneNote only shows the resource info.
It appears initially that we have an issue here somewhere.

I know that Pages and Mail do not support this feature. I do not have OneNote, but it DOES work in MSFT Office. It also works in Scrivener. I don't have OpenOffice installed currently, but it might work there as well. Here is a list of some free apps... maybe one will work.

I have also tried the following:
Wordpress
Google Docs
Notes
Evernote
Microsoft Word (online via OneDrive)
Now add to that OneNote, Pages, Mail, and any where in Chrome then it looks like the feature either doesn't work for Mac or else there is a bug.
I have an Office365 subscription and could install it on to my Mac if I wanted to, but I'd rather not go through the trouble when (1) I don't want or need Word on my Mac and (2) there is no guaranteeing that it will work.

With MS Word, the bibliographic data appears in a footnote every time I paste from Logos 6. It may be a bit short-sighted to refuse to put MS Word on your Mac for at least 2 reasons: 1) As you have already noted, Apple broke the footnote paste feature with the latest version of Pages, and they do not seem to be in any hurry to fix it. Logos is not the only application affected. 2) If you create a personal book in Logos, you need docx format for Logos to compile your resource.

Jack,
To clarify, you're working from a mac? But as I said, I don't need Word. I use OneNote and Evernote. At best, this would only mean that I would have to copy/paste into Word and then copy/paste from Word into OneNote and hope that it transfers the citation data. But if it only copies citation data into a footnote then I'm sure it would just be more trouble for me to then copy the footnote separately and past that into OneNote... there are faster solutions that don't involve installing other software that I don't need. For instance, I can copy the citation data from Logos directly and then paste it into OneNote. I can then quickly copy/paste this to other OneNote files when necessary.
Of course the best thing would be for Logos to fix/add this feature if possible.

Thanks. However as I mentioned above this just creates an extra-step for me to get the information to where I actually need it and I can take another route that would work just as well.

I wasn't sure if it is something Logos can accomplish or if it's something impossible on their end. So far we haven't heard from Logos, so I don't know. The feature works on my PC when I'm using the Chrome browser, Evernote, Wordpress, OneNote, Google Docs, etc....
So it would seem that either it's something fundamental the Mac architecture that would disallow this or else it's just that the Logos version of Mac doesn't have the feature or...?

Ah, but we have. (i.e. https://community.logos.com/forums/p/76735/538469.aspx#538469)

Havent I demonstrated that this isn't the case? See the screen shot above!

Notice that on the Noet page it says "Noet cites your sources for you: just choose your preferred citation style and copy–paste from a Noet book into your word processor. When you’re done writing, it even builds your bibliography automatically!"
Notice that it doesn't say this feature only works with MS Word on Mac. So a few questions:
1. Does this feature work via Noet on Pages, Google Docs, OneNote etc for Mac?
2. If not, then given that Noet advertises itself as having this feature on word processors it would seem to be the fault of Faithlife for this feature not working... Or else they didn't bother to see that this wasn't possible to do on word processors generally on Mac.

Sorry but I don't see where Logos has chimed in? Do you work for Logos or anyone else in this thread (I genuinely don't know)?
But that doesn't mean the feature isn't bugged. Maybe it's intended to work for word processors generally (see their Noet claim) but it's not functioning correctly.

I edited my post above with a link. No, I am not an employee, but a volunteer "MVP." Employees have the green FL emblem beneath their name (unless they forget and use their personal account, which happens from time to time).

Advertising claims are another story. I personally don't like to over promise. FL has no qualms about it.
I do think it is safe to say that 80+% of FL customers are using MSFT Office, so the claim is at least 80% accurate. (I don't necessarily like that, but it is true).

OneNote is part of MS Office. You mean MS Word, yes?

I meant "office," of which "word" is the "word processor."
We have some users beta testing the new version of Office... it would be interesting to see if this feature is working for them in that app.

Yes. Got confused with some comments inferring something separate from Office - OneNote has been part of MS Office on Windows for a while. I <think> it came out in 2013 as a free download for MS Office 2011 on Mac? I'm guessing that the OP is using it and having the subject issue.
I can confirm it does not work correctly in MS OneNote for Windows compared to working correctly in MS Word for Windows.
Question for OP: Does it work correctly on MS Word for Mac (not cloud version)?

He doesn't know because he hasn't downloaded it. I can confirm that it does... but I don't know about the new (2016) version (which wouldnt be the one he would be downloading presently).

In the thread for which Alabama provided a link, Martin Potter—a Faithlife employee—posted
Martin Potter said:Pages 5.0 does indeed support footnotes; however, the format they use to store/retrieve that information from the pasteboard when using copy/paste has changed. The old APXL format which was used by Pages 09 is no longer supported and the new (seemingly) internal format does not appear to have any documentation available. Until Apple provides documentation on this new format, we likely will not be able to support footnotes from Logos.
He posted that almost 2 years ago, and Apple still has not seen fit to provide the information or fix the problem.
Neither Alabama nor I are Logos employees. We are simply volunteers struggling to have a life outside the Logos Forums. The rusty star stands for Forum MVP, but we have never really figured out what MVP stands for.

Gotcha. Thanks.

BTW: This "is not" an Apple problem, its a Logos problem.
All copy functions work properly with Accordance to : Pages ( old and new), MS Word, etc.
Citations show up properly, instantly- no issues.
Just wanted you to know it works fine with other programs thus, I cannot see how this is an Apple issue instead of Logos.Blessings.

Thanks everyone for the help.
By way of update, I installed Office 2016 Preview for Mac today and the citation function does work with Word, but still doesn't work with OneNote. However it does work with OneNote on Windows.
