So on my year old 100gb SSD, it is saying it's almost full.  I'm doing some spring cleaning, but the real culprit is this "Logos 5" folder that is 39.8 GB.  Anyone else close to this size with ~7,000 resources?  It also says Logos 5 and not 6,so I'm just wondering if I have a double install or something else goofy.  Btw here is the address on my computer: C:\Users\Everett\AppData\Local.

Thanks.

No you are ok. Logos 5 folder is fine. I have a much bigger folder.

mine is 24GB with 3,000 resources..

So that should be about right for 7,000

Mine is also around 40Gb for 7000+ resources. It is a lot of space, but it is actually amazing considering how much shelf space would be needed to house these resources in print. Big Smile

That will be about right. The only thing you could check would be the WebCache folder. ...\Logos5\Data\{random}\WebCache which will contain images/videos downloaded from within Logos. You can safely delete that folder.

Mine is 47.6 with a little over 11500.  I had to redo my desktop recently and did a fresh install.  When I reinstalled Logos 6 my directory changed to become c:\users\{name}\appdata\local\logos,  instead of logos4, logos5 or logos6.  I also noticed that it is retaining new directories for most recent version installed, ie. 6.3.0.0056 and under that 6.3.0.0074.  These are very small directories.  Yes, it appears that Logos is contending with Windows 8.1 on the race of which takes more hard drive space....  actually my windows directory itself was only 17gigs but adding on all the program and program(86) and programdata it is a race that I think Logos is in front place on.  It is certainly in front of everything else on my androids and surface.  The price we pay for electronic libraries,  a cost I find necessary since I do not have the room for physical books, nor an adequate nearby library that has the necessary hard copies.

Blessings and watch that drive space...

A 100GB disk drive is very tiny by today's standards. I have two 1TB drives. I would think 500GB would be a minimum, maybe 300GB if it's a laptop, but even that is going to fill up fast. Is your SSD drive your only drive? If not, is there anything on it that you could move to another drive? You want to try to keep Logos on it if possible, because it's a performance hog. But you might be needing to look at upgrading to a larger SSD. They've come down in price and are available in much larger sizes now. You can get a 250GB one for under $100 now.

I've got a few hundred resources under 12000 with 49.2gb.

My numbers are almost the same.

When I bought my laptop with SSD, 100GB was all I could get.  It's built in so I can't replace it, so I am told.  This isn't a big deal I have 10% of it left, and there aren't any performance issues.  I was just taken aback at the size of Logos.  Didn't realize it had grown.

If you haven't bought any new resources, then most of that growth is in new datasets. It's definitely not in the size of the engine. But some of the datasets are gargantuant.

You should be worried! Hard drives, even SSD's, need "room to breathe."

You might find some users a good resource to verify if that is the case.

SSD's need spare capacity to retain their performance - around 7% is OK. But Logos needs space for re-indexing-  and that's where your 10% just isn't enough as your index is about 10 GB i.e. you need at least 17% spare.

CCleaner is good for spring cleaning and use its System Restore tool.

IF you're talking to me, I may have not been clear enough - I'm only using 60gb of a 256gb ssd.

512gb ssd's were 2xx$ a week or two ago... I was greedily eyeballing one... I bought more logos books instead though :) - the classic commentaries and studies series that was (is?) onsale, and the sets that weren't included in the big bundle.
