Logos 6.4 - Crash on Startup
I'm on Windows 8.1. I've just updated to Logos 6.4, and now cannot start the program. The program opens up to the main screen and then, after a second or so, I get the system message:
Logos Bible Software has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you is a solution is available.
I'm afraid I am newly back on to windows, so I am not sure if Logos keeps and error log (or needs to run a program as it did on the mac).

Chris,
there should be a "Logos Logs" subfolder in the "Documents" folder of your user. Within you may find the log files - just zip them and upload here in the forum with the editor's paperclip icon.

Thanks, Chris, that's great.
Unfortunately I can't see the reason of the crash immediately from these logs - maybe other log readers see more in it. But I think it would help if you start L6 with the Ctrl-key pressed down, which will invoke the detailed Logos.log. When the application crashes again, fetch the Log files again - which will include the Logos.log and potentially show how far Logos got until the crash.
Alternatively you may try Logos user support over the phone.

Thanks.
I've done as you suggest, and I've attached the new log files. If nothing makes sense, then I'll call support (once I've worked out the itme difference from the UK!).
Thanks again.
Chris
EDIT - I've emailed support at Logos (just in case), so I'll let you know what reply they give.

Chris,
it seems the program crashes during homepage generation for a Faithlife notification object (at least that's how it looks to me from the logs) - did you start with Ctrl key pressed? Then normally it should not invoke the homepage but a blank layout which you can populate with your searches, guides, resources etc.

Hey Chris,
This will be fixed in an upcoming release. There was a problem in handling a certain type of notification, which is handled correctly now. Like NB.Mick suggested, you could hold down the Ctrl key to start to a blank layout and avoid using the HomePage until the fix rolls out.
Alternatively, you could get three new notifications that would flush the panel with correctly rendered notifications. A simple way to do this would be to follow a group in faithlife.com that is very active. Once you get three new notifications that correctly render, you can simply un-follow the group to stop receiving notifications.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks, Jonathan. I'm glad it's not just me(!) and I'll see if I can flush the notifications.
Mick - you are spot on! It did load the blank page, and then crash when I clicked on the homepage. I'm grateful for your help.

It's my pleasure. And good to know you can use the workaround or even get it to work properly!
Very active groups with many notifications I know of are

Thanks. I've not really engaged with the groups before so this might be my excuse to get started!
Thanks again for all your help.
