Logos.com prepubs - what happened to "you ordered this pre-pub on "?

It used to be that if I went to explore a pre-pub page on logos.com, if I already had ordered that pre-pub, there would be a note in the yellow section under the Status (and shipdate if applicable) saying something to the effect of "You ordered this pre-pub on <date>." It no longer shows that info, which I think is a big problem. It would be too easy now to accidentally order again a pre-pub that I'd already ordered. Now I have to go search my pre-pub list for everything I encounter to see if I've already got it in my basket.

I didn't notice when this changed, but why did it change? Is something broken or was it intentional? Please put it back to the way it was before.

Rosie, I just checked one of my prepubs and it indicated that I ordered it. Are you looking at the items actual page?

Rose, it's the same for me. All of my pre-pubs that haven't shipped yet still say, "You ordered this pre-pub....."

Are you sure you are looking at the right product page? I've found more than one product page for the same resource. I'm not certain, but the pages may be different for download and CD.

For instance, I noticed your post on the upcoming release of IVP dictionaries http://community.logos.com/forums/t/9230.aspx where you provide a link to the product page http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/4714 . That page does not show my Pre-Pub order.

However, in My Account page, the Pre-Pub order does appear for the *download* of latest volumes in IVP Dictionaries series, but the product page is http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/4713 and it does show "You pre-ordered this product on 10/21/2009 at $69.95"

Notice that one webpage is Logos # 4714 and the other is 4713, yet both pages refer to the latest OT IVP volumes. Is this the problem you are having?

Hi Rosie,

Is it possible that this is a problem related to deleted cookies. If you have cleaned out your internet cache you might have also deleted the cookie that tells Logos you are a recurring visitor displaying your pass orders for each web page you have ordered a pre-pub. Just a thought!

Yes, I'm looking at the item's actual page. I clicked through from my "My Accounts > Pre-Pub Orders" page. I discovered that it isnt' missing for every single item; there are a handful that still have it; but for the vast majority of them it is missing. Does anyone else have any of these pre-pub orders? (You can just hover your mouse over the links in your "Pre-Pub Orders" page to check the numbers; it was too much trouble for me to copy/paste all the titles as well.)

In all of these cases, the item's page is missing the "you pre-ordered this product on <date> at <price>" message. It shows up for other pre-pub products I've ordered, though. There seems to be no rhyme or reason; it isn't dependent on whether the product is still "gathering interest" or "under development" (= "under contract").

Have you checked every single item in your pre-pub basket to see if the "you pre-ordered" message is there?

They all used to show the info about the fact that I'd ordered them. I'm sure of that. I'm worried that maybe Logos has renumbered some of the products so that even though they show up in my basket, there's a new item number (different product page number) now, and I won't actually get the pre-pub once it ships. And I now have no way of verifying this, or seeing what date I ordered it or what price I ordered it at.

I noticed this also. In each case, if I edit the url by increasing or decreasing the Logos resource # by 1, a page for that resource opens with the indication of my pre-order.

They all used to show the info about the fact that I'd ordered them. I'm sure of that. I'm worried that maybe Logos has renumbered some of the products so that even though they show up in my basket, there's a new item number (different product page number) now, and I won't actually get the pre-pub once it ships. And I now have no way of verifying this, or seeing what date I ordered it or what price I ordered it at.

It would be nice if Logos personnel would give us some assurance there will not be a problem.

That's a logical question, but in my case, I am careful to only select the Download option. I did not change the order for any of my recent pre-pubs where I see this problem. About a year ago, I canceled a CD, and reordered selecting Download, and there was no problem.

I order almost exclusively download versions and am very careful to check that I selected the right one. I know that the majority of my pre-pubs were download orders, and that hasn't changed. The few that were available in CD or DVD only are taking me to the correct page with the "you pre-ordered" message, which is as I'd expect given your explanation. But some of the other ones that are taking me to the correct page with the "you pre-ordered" message are available in both download and CD, and I'd ordered the download version, which is no different a situation from all the dozens of ones for which the link in my pre-pub basket isn't taking me to the correct page.

There is no way on the product page itself, when you see the "you pre-ordered" message, to tell if you ordered the download version or the CD version. You have to trust what it says in the "Delivery Method" column of your pre-pub basket. And I always used to. But I can no longer trust it now that I'm seeing this problem for most of the items in it. [:(]

OK, some further info on this weirdness that might help the Logos folks diagnose what is going on with the web shopping cart:

I tried this out for just one of the resources I am having these problems with, Handbook for Hebrew Exegesis. It would be a huge task to verify all of this for all the other books and I haven't had time to go through it:

In my "Pre-Pub Orders" page this book appears with the following info:

Delivery Method = DOWNLOAD

Item = Handbook for Hebrew Exegesis [DOWNLOAD]

Item Price = $12.95

If I click on the "Edit" link at the far right, it takes me to the Checkout page for this item showing me the SKU for what I ordered is 5188. (I leave it alone and don't edit it, and return to the "Pre-Pub Orders" page.)

If I click on the item Title link, it takes me to this page: http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5188

That page does not show any "You pre-ordered" message. But now I know the numbers in the URL are SKU numbers.

I subtract 1 from the SKU number and go to the previous page: http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5187

There, I see "You pre-ordered this product on 1/24/2010 at $12.95."

Now I go back to the product info page (either http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5188 or http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5187; it doesn't matter) and easy pre-order another copy of the product in Download format and a copy in CD-ROM format (just to double check the SKU #s). Lo and behold, when I order the Download copy, its SKU is 5188, and when I order the CD-ROM copy, its SKU is 5187. I hastily remove these new orders from my pre-pub basket and am left with my original one that I ordered on 1/24/2010.

So, what appears to have happened is that Logos shifted its record of what format I ordered from the DOWNLOAD version to the CD-ROM version somehow. At least on the product info page that shows what I ordered. This does NOT match the info in my pre-pub cart, so I'm mystified and slightly worried. I do not want to get CD-ROM versions of all these products once they ship.

Please, someone from Logos, let us know what is going on behind the scenes, and whether a fix on your end is necessary. Thanks!

Let me guess: you're using 4.0a SR-3, right? Someone else noticed this same difference and we think we've ascertained that it's due to differences in the resource between 4.0a and 4.0b (perhaps footnotes or something; not sure what the change was). Wait until 4.0b ships (it's still in beta) and then once you upgrade, try it again, and you'll probably get the same results I got. Perhaps they've feminized the ESV due to so many requests from beta testers... [;)]

Also, there are some products, such as the Hebrew Pronunciation Addin (http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5960) and The New Testament for English Readers (http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5998) for which it doesn't show "you ordered this" on the product page (though I did order it, and it does appear in my Pre-Pub Orders page), and for which the trick of subtracting one from the SKU in the URL doesn't work (adding one doesn't work either); it gets me to some other product.
