Download new resources failure...

Is there a trick to make new resources download after you close and restart Logos? I have powered down my PC, tried "update resources" and "update now" - all to no avail. It's been 30 hours since my order confirmation email. I experienced this a few weeks ago as well but it cleared itself up suddenly for some unknown reason. Any suggestions? I am running L6.5 SR-1 on a PC w/ Windows 10. Thanks!

Make sure you haven't configured a small download window in Program Settings; you may need to reset it to "Midnight to Midnight".

Bradley, I wonder if this behaviour ought to be changed. The setting name is "Automatically Download Updates". To my mind (and possibly to David's), this means downloading updates without any user input. Expected behaviour is that when the user types "Update Now" s/he wants to update now. The automatic download setting should not affect that behaviour.

Essentially, I now leave Logos open on my computer overnight, with automatic updates scheduled from 1 a.m. That way indexing usually happens overnight. However, there are occasions (such a new beta with a feature that I am interested in, or a new resource that I want to use straight away) when I want to download now. It would be good to be able to do that without having to fiddle around with program settings.

Then the compromise should be that "update now" should notify users of an update (and allow them to download it if they choose) if they enter the command outside of a time when automatic downloads are turned on.

By the way, is there still a difference between "update resources" and "update now". It seems they both do the thorough check that previously only "update resources" performed.

I don't really understand (on the other thread) why anyone would type "Update Now" when they didn't want to update now. I use Update Now when I already know that there is an update available, I'm at home and I have time for installation and indexing.

Mark's suggestion of a two-stage process is a reasonable one (as usual). An alternative is a "Check For Updates" command for Dave Hooton and SineNomine, which would do what it says—check for updates but not download them.

Well, this morning after doing a second restart, it connected with the FL server and the 2 resources came in and indexed fine. I did have download between midnight and 7:00 am. I can't say why or understand how it worked out now, but I'm happy! Maybe I should just never-mind the update now and possess my soul in patience for a day or two.

The combination of Automatically Download = NO and "Update Now" = check and notify --> that was always the behaviour, whereas the combination of Automatically Download = YES and "Update Now" obviously doesn't mean "check and notify"

"Update Resources" exposes the ambiguity of "Update Now" because the same two cases exist for downloading "now" or just notifying.

The combination of Automatically Download = YES and a time frame intimates there is a "NO" condition outside that time frame!
