Last night (2/11/10) I was doing some studying in L4 and my laptop connected to the L4 borg and downloaded an update. When it starts to reindex the program crashes. What gives?

Ok, start Logos holding down the Ctrl key as you click the link, keep holding it until you see the Login screen. This will enable logging. Log in to Logos. Go to the command bar and type "rebuild index" (no quotes) and hit enter. This will make a fresh index. If it crashes along the way upload the Logs to the forum and we can troubleshoot.

Did what you said - held down ctrl key...typed in rebuild index...and off it went. And then - no crashing.
For the Logos techies: this update went to my laptop which is running XP and the initial reindex that L4 does when you get an update went fine. The problem came when I did a search later when I was working in L4 and you get the not all resources might be available reindex now option in the search results report. So I clicked that and the reindex started and then L4 crashed. This happened 3 times and then a 4th time after I restarted the computer.
Kevin's "fix" worked in that when I restarted L4 with ctrl key down and then typed in "reindex now" (no quotes) the reindex went fine.
Finally: when I got to the office where I have a win 7 desktop the update went fine - no problems.

John's experience is one I do not want to share. I am glad he posted it so I do not do any updating until I hear from Logos tech that whatever is buggy is fixed.

Do you know how to get the biography thing to work.
John, I would assume (since I haven't set a biography) you just need to Click Edit at the upper right side of the page and input the appropriate bio. If it hasn't shown up, I'm not certain what is wrong. Sometimes the forum software takes a while to push changes to the profile.
You may need to scroll down. There is a Save button that you have to hit. i had the same problem a few days back.
