I upgraded to version 4, but I am missing some resources that I have in Logos 3. For example, I can't find the NASB. Is there a manual way to move books to Logos 4?
Is there a manual way to move books to Logos 4?
No there isn't. In fact, do not copy files to the Logos 4 resource folder directly.
Are you referring to the NASB (original, 1977 edition) or the NASB95? Either way you should be able to find them in the Library pane of Logos 4. I ask because the older version of the original NASB shows up as a monograph not a Bible in Logos 4, so that could throw you off.
If the older version, you need to download the new NASB (77) file from the Logos ftp server: ftp://ftp.logos.com/lbxbooks/ look for the file NASB.lbxlls and download it to your Logos 3 Resources folder. Then to get that into Logos 4 use the Scan command. See here to find out how to use that command: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Commands
The same Scan command will search your Logos 3 Resources folder and bring into Logos 4 anything that is there that should be in Logos 4. However the installation of Logos 4 should have taken care of that.
I am missing resources as well. A lot. I have around 900 in 3.0, but show 527 in 4.0. I have tried the "scan" command that I came across in the FAQs for every possible directory where resource files are located, but to no avail.
Also...and these may have been asked elsewhere, but I can't find it. Is there no "Prayer List" function in 4.0? And, how do we import our notes, and other user-created content into 4.0? With 3.0, I had to retype a lot of notes because of some type of change to some of the resources (placemarkers, or something, I don't recall?). Please tell me I'm not about to lose all of the work I've put into my notes. I don't want that heartbreak again. Right now, I'm feeling terrible about this investment in 4.0.
Kip,
Right now Logos 4 does not support PBB (Personal Book Builder) files. If some of your resources in 3.0 are that type, you won't have them (yet) in Logos 4.
Some resources, like the Reverse Interlinears, are now incorporated in their Bibles, so you lose a few in headcount through those.
Logos resources are for life. If you have resources (not PBBs) missing in Logos 4, then something is wrong. Be sure you synched your licenses in 3.0 because 4.0 depends on that list.
Prayer lists will be supported again in the next upgrade, probably due in a couple of weeks. They are being beta tested right now.
Note importing is also in the upcoming release, along with a number of other features. See a list here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/11551.aspx
For other missing features look here: http://www.logos.com/4/missingfeatures
Don't lose hope.
Thanks so much for the quick reply. I haven't lost hope; I was just a little frustrated this afternoon. I'm still hanging in for the long haul. I'll be anxiously awaiting the next upgrade!
What about those missing resources? Have you been able to identify any more of them?
Some of my books didn't get imported from Libronix 3 to Logos 4. I own a SDA Bible Commentary and library of Ellen White writings that didn't get imported. I synched it before but they don't show up on the Logos.com website. I still have the CD's...Can I scan these old disks and import into Logos 4? Thanks for any help.
Thomas -
You should visit the Logos 4 wiki page about Adding Resources. It will give you some help. If you have difficulties, you can always call customer support during business hours (they are not open over the weekend). If you are able to show ownership (Do these have registration codes? If not, perhaps a photo of the CD-ROM), Logos (at their discretion) can "flip a switch" and it will be available to download next time you load Logos.
Thomas,
If you synched your licenses, then try using the Scan command to Scan your CD. (Logos may not have these files on their web site to download to you.)
Check out his page on the wiki to see what you do:http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Commands
Remember that you must close and reopen Logos to activate the command once it is given.
If this doesn't work you'll need to call support as a24 suggested.
I didn't see it on the website, even though I've synced it before. I went back and reinstalled Libronix 3 on the computer so that all of the resources are on my hard drive. I opened Logos 4, and now I believe it sees the new resources so it automatically tries to build the index. Now my problem is that the index building becomes overwhelmed and crashes. Therefore, I'm currently reinstalling Logos 4 (after Libronix and not before it) and hoping that a clean install of Logos 4 will work. If not, I'll contact customer support.
