I need to purchase "An Introduction into Early Judaism" for a course I am taking. However, it's also included in one of the bundles. So for under $20 more I can 5 more resources (I own one of them already). Does anyone have any recommendations on the resources included in the Bible Backgrounds Bundle (S)?
Thanks.

Like most of the bundles include good quality recent academic resources with very little fluff. The volumes are quite specialised, but if the subject is something you're interested in, then it represnts good value. Genesis 1 as Ancient Cosmology is rather dense and I disagree with its conclusions, but it's a pioneering and therefore important work. Pharisees, Scribes, and Sadducees in Palestinian Society is seen as something of a standard text in some circles, and you'll certainly find that useful in academic studies (though I personally think he sometimes smooths out the complexities rather too easily). I'm not sufficiently familiar with the archaeological volumes to pass comment on them.
My advice would be to buy bundles if you're interested in the subject material at an academic level. They're great value for money.
I would certainly get it for the extra $20.
Or for an extra 65 dollars you can get 15 books, which gives you more background information to search through & digest. [:D]
I agree with Mark, I think it depends on your interest and how in depth you want to get.
