How do I find all the definitions of a word in my library?

Note: none of the answers will return all definitions - Logos is not tagged to do that. But they will provide useful results.

Here's one easy way:

(1) Create a Collection of your dictionaries (for this example, I created one called 'Dictionaries- Bible') and name it something you like. Here's mine, and the rule I used.

(2) Open the search window, choose a basic search, choose your collection you just created, and type "transcendence" in the search bar.

If you use this occasionally, it would be worth your time to tweak this collection to get some specific dictionaries you like in it, then when you run this search in the future, you'll be sure and hit resources that are key to you.

A Basic Search won't give you definitions whilst Topic guide will provide articles on Transcendance when you include a Collection of type:encyclopedia or type:concordance (bible dictionaries). you might also include type:dictionary to get a standard dictionary definition.

When I want a definition of the word "Transcendence" or some other word in Verbum/Logos 6, I use the Look Up command. In the Command bar, I write "lookup <word>", e.g., "lookup transcendence" and wait a few seconds. It opens to my highest priority resource that includes a definition of that word and the parallel resources button shows me what other resources have definitions. The word "Transcendence" gives me a theological dictionary, Webster's, a Latin-English dictionary, and the Catholic Topical Index. "Lookup Jesus" gives me nine resources, "lookup God" gives me seventeen, and "lookup immanence" gives me three. Crucially, the lookup search finds entries in glossaries of monographs and other texts, not just in dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc. "Lookup immanence" gave me an entry from the glossary of Jesus of Nazareth: Part Two: Holy Week: From the Entrance into Jerusalem to the Resurrection, for example. The lookup search does sometimes find entries related to the term you search for, not just the exact term, e.g., my first result for "lookup Jesus" was an article titled "Jesus Christ" in a Bible dictionary, and one of my entries of "lookup transcendence" was "Transcendence of God".
